NHL Entry Draft 2022 NHL Draft Thread - Part 2

Have heard Geekie is really impressing at the Top Prospects camp

Noah Warren as well

Geekie seems like the classic Sens reach with a top pick. I think I'd still prefer guys like Slafkosky, Jiricek, Cooley, Wright, or Nemec but i wouldn't be surprised if we took him in the top 5.

How much do scouts cost? Pro or amateur. We have wasted millions of dollars on contracts that had red flags to begin with, and have made some "interesting" selections in the past draft. Isn't it obvious that paying for scouts and a proper front office will save money in the long run?

Maybe this is the wrong thread. The idea of "reaching" has me unsettled.

I think he's in the mix. Not with Slafkovsky or Wright but with the rest of the forwards we see in the top 10 especially considering the Russians could very well slide. I think Nemec or Jiricek would be a D vs F decision and any one of them could be BPA on their list without looking at position. Cooley is more consistently ranked in the top 5 .. I'd be happy to have him selected .. Just not sure the Sens would have him as high as the others you mentioned.. but that's more about the identity they have been moving towards. If they have a shot at Wright or Slafkovsky I don't think they pass. I don't think they consider Savoie.

Don’t think Geekie is a reach anywhere in the top 10.

I think he’s a guy that will be disliked by the blogging sites for sure, I think he’ll be higher on team lists than he is around here.

I prefer all the above guys over him as well

I’d think he’d be a guy we have in our sights after that group of 5 guys are gone, he’s probably be one of the top guys I’d think the Sens would like.

The top 5 seems incredibly easy right this moment for the Sens. The 2 C’s in Wright and Cooley, the huge winger in Slaf, and the 2 Right D in Nemec and Jiricek. They all fit into the team like gloves at their respective positions.

After that, I think there is a pretty steep drop off with Geekie very possibly leading that pack in teams eyes, especially with the possibility of Yurov being lowered and Miro certainly being lowered.

Lameroux is a guy to look for with our 2nd, as is Warren.

Korchinski, Luneau, Pickering would all be unbelievable picks there, but are very likely to be taken in the teens/early 20’s

Yeah, I should have said he's a reach more like Sanderson than Boucher, still top 10 consensus but maybe not top 5. Someone who maybe wasn't the consensus BPA but who the scouts fall in love with. Does he end up better than Kemell, Nazar, Savoie, Lambert? I think you could definitely make the arguement he's better or on the same level as any of those guys.

Yeah, I'd have no issues with Geekie at 6th (and could see the argument for a bit higher), I got myself into trouble last year saying this, but I think I'll be fine with whoever we pick as I think there will be 5 or 6 guys that could be available and one could make the argument for. I just hope we don't go off the proverbial board.

Yeah just with the way this draft is stocked, the earlier the Sens pick, the less likely is a reach. If we pick in the top 5 we're sure to get one of Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Nemec, Jiricek. No need to reach and everybody is happy. If they pick just a little bit later and those 5 are all gone, things might get a lot more interesting. Perhaps they take Geekie, and many people will be ok with it, but many will not. But I would say it is extremely unlikely they take any of Savoie, Kemell or Lambert, and pretty unlikely they take Lekkerimaki or Nazar. So if Geekie is off the board too, or if it turns out they're just not big fans, that's where a lot of fans might end up unhappy. Could see them reaching for an Ohgren, Gauthier, Pickering or Kasper. Of course there's still time left, so maybe a couple of those guys move up the final boards and won't be considered such a reach by the time of the draft.

Another interesting possible scenario that would throw a lot of people would be if they do pick in the top 5, and maybe they take Geekie over a guy like Cooley or one of the RDs. That one seems less likely to me, but never know with this team.

*yearly pumping up a 67s player(s) tire*

I've beena ran of Rohrer all year, and hes just gotten better and better. Honestly no clue where he goes. Probably 3rd/4th but could be a riser and taken in the 2nd.

I don't know much about him.
McKenzie had him at 55 so.. I guess a near mid 2nd to early 3rd ..

Have to check him out tonight.

Do you not think we are picking in the top 5? Or, do you think we'll go on a bit of streak and pick out of the top 5? I'm excluding any lottery ball voodoo.

Toolsy London Knights defensemen with two first names? Hard pass after the disaster of a pick that is Ben Roger

I wonder if Jorian Donovan LD becomes a target for the Sens given his dad works for the org maybe in the late 2n or early 3rd rd with them having two picks in each rd. He looked pretty good in his first yr in the OHL playing for Hamilton against the 67s this past weekend, not sure if he'll go higher & whether they would consider a 2nd for him, but they might? He'll be playing in the prospects game tonight. Real good skater, good size, good handling the puck & can QB the PP.

Will definitely be on their radar, and should be.

Was skipped over for last year's draft that's not likely to happen. 72 pts in 55 games. 5"11. Think he may be a target for later picks.

I think I've watched Hamilton half a dozen times this yr & he has impressed me every time. Triston Luneau RD playing for Gatineau is another defenceman they could look at if he falls into the 2nd rd especially if they take a forward with their 1st pick or try to move up to get him. Have you seen him play?

Noah Warren was fantastic at the propects game tonight. Definitely raised his stock after that preformance.
Right shot that is 6’5 with amazing defensive instincts and is one of the best skaters in the draft.

I’ve been yelling his praise all year and it looks like he’s finally getting his due.

Luneau won’t fall to the second. His skillset is second to none in this draft. Very poised, always makes the right play.
Already plays a “pro style” game.

Luneau will likely go mid first round, he had a really good showing at the top prospects game which raised his stock for sure.

Maggio is Logan Maillioux’s best friend. They played on the same team in Sweden last year the “incident” happened and went home with Mailloux after things were ironed out in Sweden. Read into that as you will.
