I wish to god I could get the American ESPN coverage of the draft. That probably has Bobby Mac and Craig Button covering. I'll have to watch online otherwise I'm stuck with sportsnet and Pierre Mcguire

1. Beck
2. Barker
3. McGroaty

We can't be playing loto in this draft Dubie .. we need a guy who can step into our lineup at 4C right away and learn over a couple years to move up to 2C/3C .. Beck will play in league next year .. stop screwing around with flawed players and lets start drafting properly .. we need a C with speed and compete who has speed to take over for JT soon .. kids from O are always da way to build Cup contenders .. they have learned how to play da Cup winning way since they couldn't piss straight .. Barker is OK but nowhere near as fast or nasty or strong on puck as Beck .. McGroaty sure he has more skill but we don't need it .. we need SPEED and COMPETE and a guy who at C can step right into lineup to help out

I lean towards Cooley, but yeah, whatever the cap is used for plus a great prospect with x number of quality ELC years for two years of Willy sounds pretty good.
Said being a full on Willy supporter.
Yup, It's really not meant as a knock on Willy. I love his game, I just think we need a different look and we need need team control on contracts going forward.

If we know anything about Willy, it is unlikely that he or his family will approach his next deal with anything but a business mindset. As he should. I just feel like we Can't afford to pay our 3rd/4th best forward what he is likely to want especially with AM34 looking for a new deal at the same time.

Is trading Will a step back? Potentially ya. But if we can mitigate his loss internally via Wright/Slavkosky or Robertson and eventually Knies then I think beyond the 2022/23 season this is a win all day. And as I said, depending on how we allocate that net cap savings it could even be a win in the immediate.

It's the bold move I would prefer over a Player for Player deal. I am only 31, I can wait another couple years before I see this team hoist a mug if need be lol.

Just make sure the future is bright, and make sure we have enough room in the budget to make Auston a career Maple Leaf

What's wrong with Pete? I think he's hilarious with his over the top enthusiasm.

What about Trading UP with the 25th and Rasmus Sandin (difficult to re-sign) & Nick Robertson & rights to Ilya Mikheyev to Ottawa for the #7 overall & RFA Alex Formenton a 22 year old left wing?

Then Ottawa can combine Sandin with his fellow countryman Erik Brännström on D and get a ready made connection.

Leafs get a lightening fast young winger in Formenton to play alongside Tavares, and can invest that 7th overall in a young stud high-end prospect to compensate for the lack of picks in the draft.

Go Big or go Home !!!

Nope. I don’t mind it at all.

Except Arizona also has the 27th pick IIRC… so I don’t see a scenario where they would deal 32 + 34 first. It’s more likely they move up from 27 with a mid round pick

25th for 27th and 67th would be fair, and I'd do it I think.

Don’t see Ottawa doing that. Maybe the 25th + Sandin for the 7th. Then drafting Savoie.

I don't think #25 and Sandin is enough for the #7 it would take more. IMO

However the key point using the un-signed Sandin and Leafs pick at #25 to move up in the draft to get a more NHL ready and higher end prospect would be what I would be attempting to do.

Admittedly I’m not as versed in this year’s crop. But if, for example, Ohgren reminds the more informed of good NHL players, then I’m not sure a repeat of Konency for Dermott makes sense.

Are there eight players from 25 to 32 of equivalent value?
We won't know this til we know how the 1st round shakes out before our pick. There is always teams that make a big reach that ends up shuffling the order a bit.

Ottawa with Boucher. CBJ with Foudy and Chinakhov. Boston with Senyshen. Off the top of my head

final predictions:

Biggest riser: Ohgren
biggest drop: miroshnichenko (unfortunately)

leafs pick: Ostlund

I have to work tonight, but I look forward to hearing about all the possible transactions/behind the scenes moves.

Most Hockey Analysts are forecasting a very interesting offseason.

Win Leafs Win.

I have zero interest in drafting Beck personally. Never stood out the times I saw him play and is just very vanilla. Nothing really stands out about his game either. Solid skater, not really physical, average skill, but he's good on faceoffs and defensively. I would be very disappointed if Beck was a pick they made at 25th because the upside seems really meh. I've been wrong before though.

I think Barker would be a good bet as a mid/late 2nd rounder. I like him a little more than Beck.

Intersting idea about using Sandin to trade up. I don’t think our first and Sandin gets us up higher enough to draft a player that can play by next year.

Beck just scored at a lesser rate than Frederick Gauthier during his draft year. What makes you think that level of Junior offense, is going to eventually translate to a 2C/3C?

I say there is. I think that every draft has a few players like that. If Dubas and his scouting team did their homework they can land one of them.

Yeah you’re right there always someone in the 10-15 range that surprises and jumps into the NHL to contribute.

Lol Ottawa is gonna take Cutter Gauthier I feel, just like they took Boucher last year. it just feels like they are going to do it again. Gauthier feels like a sens type pick
