Which makes me wonder what his motive is. If he hasn't heard anything, which a lot of us are assuming, is he looking to make HuGo look bad to casual fans (if they choose Wright) with the whole "this is so shocking!" narrative?

It's going to look even more bizarre if they do pick Wright. Like why?
I don't follow Lavoie that closely, so I won't pretend to know what motive could be behind that take.
From what I can tell from his body of work, apart from holding the mic to players after games or between periods, I wouldn't say he boasts a hockey knowledge that high up the chart.

That leads me to believe that it's simply some amateurish take: Wright was generational same as McDavid but didn't have a McDavid season. Therefore, Wright = bad.

Maybe I'm wrong and HuGo leaked him some info, but him being singular with such an outlandish take makes me believe that's simply coming from someone with poor scouting acumen and understanding of draft prospects beyond the surface level.

Not that I would call myself an expert, but I've avidly read most of the draft threads the past few years. From his arguments, I'd say Lavoie doesn't pass the lowest of standards around here in terms of prospect knowledge.

Anderson playing with Tkachuk in Ottawa would be kind of deadly for them, not gonna lie.
If I'm Calgary and I feel I'm about to lose Johnny Hockey for nothing I would start the rebuild immediately.

Call Ottawa and fleece them for M.Tkachuk.

Moving Suzuki off center would be nuts.

I don’t think a better center than him will be had next year. Even Bedard and Fantili probably end up at wing. Bedard can be pure offense ala prime Kane, while Fantili can be the Slaf some here want but with better wheels. Suzuki/Wright is a center duo you build around.
Moving Bedard too wing for Shane Wright of all people is ridiculous lol. You keep the generational C in his position.

Cooley saying that he and Caufield are both USNDTP products. Cooley is more a playmaker and that would make him and Cole a good 1-2 punch.

Did anyone tell him Suzuki is already BFFs with Cole?

NGL... it feels good to hear all these prospects wanting to be part of the habs. It's a good sign that players see the build of this young core as promising
