You absolutely do not move a top 10 pick if you are a rebuilding team. You absolutely absolutely don't move a top 5 pick if you are rebuilding. You absolutely absolutely absolutely don't move a #1 overall pick if you are still rebuilding.

I mean, if Colorado offers Cale Makar? Then sure. But somehow I doubt he's on the market. You certainly don't do it for Kevin Fiala or Brock Boeser or whomever.
Ok, you went full nuclear with your response of a potentially generational defenseman. How about if Arizona offered Jakub Chychrun for the #1 or #2 pick?

Who has the most grit in the 1st round?
Apparently don’t need it . Never mind what you see watching the playoffs. We seem to have done awesome the past two years without much of it.
Honestly though , why do people crap on the idea of needing grit? It is absolutely needed to compete. Currently we dont have enough. At all.

they have to be playing meaningful games into march at this point. i know if they win the lotto the chances are 0% they will trade it for an nhl player but to me you could really benefit by the top teams up against the cap giving them relieve with a young cheap contract of a good prospect while prying away a legit nhl player.

I totally agree with how the season needs to play out with the Devils next year - they need to be in the mix next year with the players continuing their individual growth.

I do not know if adding a player who might not really get them across the real finish line (legit contender) is worth all those years of economical team control. If that player really moves the needle (impact goalie, impact RH defenseman) I am on board, but I don’t see that player out there.

I am sick of seeing the Devils suck, but I don’t want to miss out on a decade of greatness because we got a bit impatient early on (yes, i know calling it early on is debatable but I consider Nico‘s 1st season our real starting point).

Oh man, I forgot to wear my Hall jersey LOL
In any case, is it ok to ask about a stream for the lottery? I'll be at work. (If not, please go ahead and edit this off.)

It should be on ESPN+ if you have access to that. After reading your post, I'm debating grabbing my Hall jersey and putting some candles around it.

I’m thinking if Slafkovsky Jiricek and Nemec is gone , I’m in team trade the pick.
I can go back and forth on this thought depending on who the trade is for but just imagine passing up on a young cost controlled played like Mercer. Not every player drafted is going to take 3-4 years to be ready.

If we end up getting #1, I'd definitely want to trade down with the 'Yotes for their first and second 1st rounders and be guaranteed Slafkovsky, Nemec, or Jiricek.
If we end up getting #2, I'd still consider trading with Arizona, but I'd be perfectly happy with Slafkovsky
If we get #5 I'd stand pat.
If we get #6 or #7, THEN I start seriously considering a trade for Fiala or Hellebuyck.
Hellebuyck? He is 29 at the start of next season. That would be a disaster of a trade.

Is this in an attempt to burn what you already should have?

devils to me already have enough talent in the pipeline and young that trading this pick isn't going to going hurt them down the road. if jack/nico/mercer/bratt/luke/muk/holtz isn't enough young talent then the devils have to re-evaluate their player development/drafting. thats your devils team of the future for better or worse so adding another top 5 draft pick who can bust just as big as mikey or zacha isn't worth the risk use the asset for a proven nhl talent to help the kids get to the next level. when i say nhl talent i'm not talking about a 30 year old player either i'm talking about a young but proven player. who that is i dont know but i would absolutely inquire about it.

Because people keep thinking grit means non skilled grinders.

Glad I missed it because he is a poor target. We should not be spending big assets for anyone who is 29.

This again

It originally started as a Parise jersey. I toyed with the idea of ordering a new nameplate every time there was a new #9 and poorly covering up the previous nameplates.

I went the boring route and just it replaced with Hall. Deprived myself of Tedenby, Josefson, Bobby Butler, and Jiri Tlusty.

Depends how you view NJ after this past season, if you're on the side that the goalies completely blew the season which most fans and management seem to be on then yes you can trade a top 10 pick for NHL ready talent especially in a draft like this.

I dont think so. Perennial top 5 goalie in the league( debatable) that has never shown any signs of inconsistency . I’m down for that . Dependig on the cost, but I’d be willing to offer quite a haul.
