Mets desperately need bullpen help and a solid bat or two. the 3B and C spots are black holes most of the time

Though both Escobar and Nido showed up the past few games. Still could use an upgrade.
Alvarez and Baty are fantastic prospects but man if they were a year further in their development

Judge really is going to make the Yankees regret not getting him signed isn’t he. No ide what the history on how 6’7” players age injury wise over time is but man, losing him would sure suck.

The Soto return is going to be ridiculous. As a Mets fan, hoping he goes to Seattle. Dodgers are apparently one of the 4 teams in on him.

There’s no shot he goes to Seattle after the Castillo trade, what else do they have left to give them, J-Rod?

Feels like they have to cash out on him at some point. Doubt it's happens before the deadline, but I would sell the whole Yankees farm for him right now
If it guaranteed they could sign him further beyond next year I would be willing to give up not the farm but pretty damn close to it. Not sure if they could fit in him and Judges potential upcoming extension though.

It's going to be fun watching Yankees fans beg for a salary cap over the next decade or two.

Cohen is the most abhorrent kind of savage, but I'll take it given what's been going on on the other side of town for decades.

Why would they beg for a salary cap?
Beg for a salary cap was a poor choice of words. More like bitch and moan about how much one specific team is outspending them by a gross amount.

Kinda like how they did when Houston cheated. It takes one to know one.

Righteous indignation is a Yankee fan specialty.

Jerome from Manhattan wasn't an outlier, he was just the most entertaining.

What are the chances Othani gets moved?
Heard on MLB XM radio today that apparently the Angels made overtures to him about signing an extension and...he's not exactly enthusiastic about the idea. Reporter indicated this means his odds of getting dealt by Tuesday just significantly went up, since this is the Angels' best chance to cash in on him in terms of whatever return they can get.

Word out of Queens is that the Mets are all about eventually getting Ohtani to the blue and orange (the Mets' current GM is the one who signed him in the first place), but I don't think they'd trade for him this year, they'll wait until he's a free agent after next season.

In the meantime, Mets doing a series of small trades and moves that actually seem to be adding up nicely: they've given themselves platoon options at 3B, LF, and soon probably DH that should pretty significantly boost production out of a couple of those spots. DH and 3B have been problematic most of the season, but just having a few games this week with above average production from one of them has made a big different in extending the lineup.

Also changes their calculus for a potential trade for a catcher; if the Cubs are asking a ton for Contreras but the Mets have put together solid pairings for their other trouble spots in the lineup, they can probably tell Chicago they don't really need them that much, and can either wait for McCann to get back (his numbers this year are awful, but his peripherals suggest he should correct a bit if he gets healthy) or make a trade for a less costly catcher who can help out, too, like one of the guys from the Red Sox.
