I wouldn’t touch players with extensive knee or brain injury history.

Friedman Interview:
Luke Gazdic:
-defends Luke Gazdic; can't come on the show without defending him
-if you take Gazdic off the air then the lowest of the low on social media have won
-Gazdic made a big mistake and it won't happen again
-things that were said to Gazdic were so offside and over the line that you would be rewarding the biggest losers on the planet
-has no problem with Donnie's opinion but wants to stand up for his teammate

Bowen Byram:
-doesn't know if he's available right now
-if the Sabres really plummet then everything can change
-Sabres don't want to subtract from their team; talking about making their team better
-Sabres want to compete this year

Canucks on the Trade Market:
-Canucks have one of the most active front offices in the league
-Allvin is cut from the same cloth as Rutherford
-looking for defencemen
-trying to determine what is out there and what is available
-everyone knew Utah was looking for defencemen and the best fit they found was Maatta; the Islanders are looking for defencemen right now due to injuries and haven't done anything yet; everyone knew Liljegren and Benning were available and ended up getting traded for each other because no one wanted to take on term
-it is a tight market
-we will get to a point where the market opens up a bit
-Canucks "are tossing their lines in the water" to see what's out there
-definitely looking for defencemen
-doesn't think Lekkerimaki is too far away
-wouldn't be surprised if management is looking to see what they have in Raty and Lekkerimaki
-best way to solve problems is internally

Demko:
-Canucks don't want to play the update game with him; just let the injury play out
-always a moving timeline
-not about a time frame but clearing hurdles and passing tests
-possible that the next hurdle can come this week
-pushed too hard to get ready for the start of the playoffs last season
-earliest he believed they would see Demko in an NHL game was mid-November

McDavid:
-will push his recovery as fast as he can
-if McDavid feels he's okay to go, he will play against the Canucks on Saturday
-if there's video of him taking serious practice this week, he'll probably play

Popular Teams for Players:
-Montreal is not a destination right now
-some places in the league are always destinations; names New York and LA
-some teams become destinations when they are good; Tampa Bay, Florida, and Dallas
-Vancouver now has a good team and is starting to become a destination
-Montreal has high taxes and the team isn't very good so not a destination; when they turn it around that will change

Predators:
-surprised at their start
-big hole at centre on the second line; has played a huge factor in all this
-takes a while to get new players to fit

If this is not a lie from the organization, there's a lot of rumblings about Walman not endearing himself to two organizations. Giving up a 2nd to get rid of him was still stupid but there's enough out there that now two teams have not liked his attitude/effort.

Walman has 7 points in his last 4 games so I'm assuming this is off-ice related?

I think back to that stupid f***ing dance he did after scoring his OT winners. Seems like a shithead.

the whole walman saga has nothing to do with his on ice performance, obviously

-teams are away the Canucks are looking for a puck moving defencemen
-lots of chatter
-prices are high
-Canucks are not close on anything
-Bowen Byram is a player the Canucks have gone after before
-when Miller was on the trade block, before his extension, the Avalanche were also after Miller; Canucks asked for a package centred around Byram and Newhook
-Byram has some concussion issues but seems to have moved past that
-Byram is an RFA after this season

Who the f*** isn't looking for a puck moving defenceman? They aren't exactly common (particularly ones who can play defence as well).

Prices are high scares me...that means they want Willander or Lekkerimaki, and we don't have the depth to make those moves. Both of those guys should be non-starters.

We are starting to see why failing to product at least two quality prospects per draft ends up biting you in the ass within about 5 years.

Not really. I had Casey Mittelstadt on my radar (receipts are on HFboards!) long before he was traded to COL. I thought he was really underrated. He's looking good. Byram's not even impressive relative to his team/teammates.

If Tocc is upset with Petey's play, yeesh, wait until he has to deal with Tage. He will hate his (lack of) two-way game, frequent turnovers at the blueline, unnecessary dangles, weak forechecking...
As a fantasy owner of Tage Thompson over the past few years I can say that he's incredibly inconsistent, and I agree that Tochett would be pretty frustrated with him not to mention this fanbase.

He'd be really interesting if he were actually a centre (20/48 for 42% on faceoffs) and isn't really a PKer.
He took 300 draws last season but really wasn't the center either. His 40 point break out season last year or anomaly however one wants to look at it and size. Pretty much what most will look at.

I'd pay a 3rd and Klimovich haha

I read it somewhere on Reddit (around the time he was traded to SJ) that some guy who claims he knows Walman IRL saying he’s a narc and is very much rude and disrespectful to others around him. This was just before people were suggesting he might be a locker room cancer hence why he was traded for nothing.

I myself don't know what this team needs right now other than to try harder and for more than a period a game. Then concern with what they need to get over the top. I wouldn't be buying if the team doesn't get their act together.

I guess his production is streaky, but it's really not the point totals that would be the issue.

From "we ran out of time" to actually doing the leg work for the deadline in October & November, it feels good to have a management team that knows what it's doing again.

Don't think paying for Byram is the move. He's not defensively aware enough to be what the Canucks are looking for in LD2 given Hughes doesn't kill penalties (and nor should he given his current ice time).

Puck moving defenseman is what's going to be parroted because it's the obvious need, but I highly doubt the Canucks acquire a PMD who also isn't a solid penalty killer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they should be looking for Dan Hamhuis 2.0. Will be expensive to acquire, but very much worth it.

The more you read about who might be available, and what some of the steep prices might be, the more I think the Canucks should just wait on Wilander.

That Forsling kid we have in our system plays a similar style. If he pans out he'd be a perfect fit in our top-4. Hopefully we give him a shot soon.

Jokiharju is a rental RD. Samuelsson is a 24 year old LD signed for 4.28m until 2030 but has massive injury concerns. He's never played more than 55 games in a season. His dad, Kjell, was Tocchet's teammate for a long time.
