Prospect Info: 2022 Draft: 3OA - Logan Cooley, C

Hockey will never work in the desert. Twitter told me.

In all fairness it was probably a lot of Minnesota alumni who bought tickets

They had sold out all of their STH packages some time ago.

When I looked for @rt and the BC games a while back there were probably less than 50 seats available.

I’ll check it again tonight when I get home. Doing it from mobile is a PITA

I’m guessing there’s still seats on the re-sell market and probably always will be.

Got it. I figured all them Minnesota family members coming in for the holidays did the trick haha

-Cooley with an assist tonight and Snuggerud got a hatty for the Gophs.
-Fantilli had two assists for Michigan and won 15 of 19 faceoffs.

Heard Snuggerud looked reeeeeeeeeeally good. Very excited to see this team in November and wouldn't mind him as a piece of a Chychrun trade at all.

Cooley won the faceoff on Snuggerud’s 2nd. Another player you hed it back to the D who fed it to Snuggerud for his 2nd. Beauty shot. Just no apple for Cooley.

Watch the play Cooley makes to get a backhand shot off while wearing a defenseman as a backpack in front of the net. Doesn't go in, but it starts the chaos that leads to Snuggerud's goal.

Points are not everything. I thought people realized that by now... lol

Both he and Snuggerud would benefit from another year getting stronger and playing more of a 200 foot game.

But yet, both are very, very good.

Also - only 5 months separate Cooley and Fantilli. The latter is ahead by just two points, at the moment.

Incorrect. If you watched his USHL season last year, you’d know his 200ft game is superb. And he’s an absolute gym rat (I recommend reading Scott Wheeler’s pre-draft Cooley feature). Further, there are no rules prohibiting the lifting of weights or improving your game defensively or otherwise in either the AHL or NHL.

I watch every minute of Gopher hockey and I have seen offensive dynamos before. He is not ready to play 82 games in the NHL next season. I have seen too many players leave a year earlier than they should. Better to be the big man on campus than ride the bus in the AHL. But I know he doesn't like school.

He’s not Kyle Turris. He’s probably stronger now than Turris has ever been. Turris was built like a teenaged girl when he turned pro. There were 65 D1 players with as many or more points than Turris in his one year in college.

Turris being one and done was a very stupid rush job. Cooley staying for a second year, at this point in time, appears completely pointless, and would be needlessly dragging feet for no reason.

I disagree. And I’m confident I’ll be proven right. :)

Because AZ sucks he could get 70+ games next season. Because he doesn't like school he'll probably go in the spring.

If he does these things, I'll say he has made the right decision:
Play in 70+ games
>=0.333 even strength points per game
>=0.5 points per game
Finish with a reasonable +/- relative to other forwards on the team
