Sounds like Cooley got in their head based off an assessment of their teams strengths and weaknesses.
I think he has been one of the more noticeable forwards for the USA. Not great but noticeable. Tenacious. Great stick. A bit feisty. Clearly a great skater.Anybody watching tonight's game USA vs Czech Republic (cannot call it "Czechia").Cooley doesn't look good tonight. He scored (lucky) goal but but he looks small and plays small.
Knies who was the next budding power forward that was going to be a top player in the nhl looked closer to Christian Fischer than Keith Tkachuk this tournament. So remember all the acolades last year and apply that to the Ridley Greig’s (if he misses a game does he now have a history of shoulder injuries?) and ask yourself just how many prospects should be really “untouchable “. Just a thought when u hear about 8 names in that category.I think he has been one of the more noticeable forwards for the USA. Not great but noticeable. Tenacious. Great stick. A bit feisty. Surprisingly, the chemistry with Knies is not really there.

As a rule of thumb it’s easiwr to get draft picks with no names attached because fans typically get invested with a prospect (especially for the first year or two after the draft) so they over-inflate their potential and ignore their path to a top 6 or top pairing D with the group of players already in or close to the lineup.Good post is good. I think us HF fans lump players into that untouchable category too quickly.
But of course if you are a GM you are going to use recency bias in your favor for negotiation, and Greig has looked spectacular. Meanwhile Chychrun was unable to repeat his stellar 20-21 season, so it does go both ways.
Cooley was good. Not great. But considering his age he was what we should have expected. I really loved his shifts some games and other games he wasn’t as effective. He still had points in every game and he as much better in faceoff circle than i expected. Speed and pace he plays were evident. I’m really excited to see how much growth we are going to see in his game over the course of the next 4 months.Eh, Cooley looked like an impact player on team USA playing with players 2 years older than himself. Don't see how you can look at this tournament as anything but a massive positive.
First, completely agree on Czech Republic! Second, agree on Cooley. I’m no where near as giddy as most here seem regarding this prospect, certainly hope he develops to prove me wrong.Anybody watching tonight's game USA vs Czech Republic (cannot call it "Czechia").Cooley doesn't look good tonight. He scored (lucky) goal but but he looks small and plays small.

Bedard, probably the youngest kid in the tournament, suppose to be the next great one and playing on a line with tournament point leader in McTavish, had 8 points in seven games, and Cooley a year older than Bedard but still one of the youngest players in the tournament had six points in five games playing or a non medal team. It might be time to feel a little excited about Cooley.Cooley was good. Not great. But considering his age he was what we should have expected. And this comes from a Hayton lover.First, completely agree on Czech Republic! Second, agree on Cooley. I’m no where near as giddy as most here seem regarding this prospect, certainly hope he develops to prove me wrong.

Big difference between someone being a “lover” of a player and being someone who doesn’t trash a player and give up on him.And this comes from a Hayton lover. If Hayton is even with the team in two years, I expect Cooley will out produce Hayton, if not his first year in the NHL the second for sure. You will be bragging how well Hayton is playing centering the third line.
He’s become a stat rat!Who are you and what have you done with Jakey?!![]()

I’m also the one who said Gormley wasn’t going to be of value in the NHL, from the get go. Not at all the case with Cooley, but to read (many) here, he’s some sort of savior and at this point, I’m not seeing it.

He will be better than Stepan. With how low the "bar" is, he is the best center the Coyotes had since they became the AZ Coyotes and he hasn't even suit up yet.I don't think Cooley is a savior by any means, I think he's a good player He's not a 100-pt player though. But if he can put up 70+ pts, when was the last time we had two 70+ pt players?
But I do believe he's a bona fide top 6 player and anytime you can get one of the those in the draft it's a bonus, because we over the years have drafted the guys that turn out to be 3rd line players at best.
Two?? It's been over a decade since the Coyotes have had 1. But in fairness it's generally around 50 players a year who do it.I don't think Cooley is a savior by any means, I think he's a good player He's not a 100-pt player though. I haven't given up on Hayton, yet. Let's see what #5 OA can do this year. What are your point production predictions for Hayton this year? I know you will say it's not all about points, but still curious.Big difference between someone being a “lover” of a player and being someone who doesn’t trash a player and give up on him.

Stepan? Why is his name even brought up when discussing Cooley? He will be better than Stepan. With how low the "bar" is, he is the best center the Coyotes had since they became the AZ Coyotes and he hasn't even suit up yet.
