Prospect Info: 2022 Draft: 3OA - Logan Cooley, C

I haven't given up on Hayton, yet. Let's see what #5 OA can do this year. What are your point production predictions for Hayton this year? I know you will say it's not all about points, but still curious.

I'm really hoping for 40-45p if he plays an entire season. About 18+ goals. That would give me a lot of confidence in him becoming a guy who can slot up to 2C when needed once we have more depth. It would be nice to forget about Dvo altogether because of his play.

Predictions are pointless. And to be honest, I haven’t even given Hayton’s point production a single thought.
How’s this - he’ll get as many points as he gets.

I remember when Gretzky was coach, some of the guys talked about how he coached them to take care of their 3' box around them. Probably a lot of them did not understand it because there are some things that only Gretzky can do but saying Cooley can stick handle in a phone booth sounds like that mindset. You need those guys who can carry the puck through traffic and among his many other tools, this sounds like something he has.

Nobody even hit 1.5ppg last year in the NCAA, that seems pretty optimistic.
Best freshman seasons in the 2000's are:

Jack Eichel 2014‑15 40 71
Kyle Connor 2015‑16 38 71
Thomas Vanek 2002‑03 45 62
Zach Parise 2002‑03 39 61

Thomas Vanek 2002‑03 45 62 1.38
Zach Parise 2002‑03 39 61 1.56

I added points per game.
I'll also mention that Kyle Connor was a freshman in his D+1 season, while the other three were in their draft year.

Now you guys are seeing what I was seeing when he was at the Program last year. :)

I want everyone to note the highlights from this weekend and how Cooley really doesn’t look small on these ice. I really think it’s because he’s got a long reach, uses a long stick, and just carries himself in the way that gym rats like him often do.

It’s fun to have too prospects at big programs with lots of media. We should really trade Chychrun for Knies and a 1st or Snuggerud and a 1st.
