If he doesn't make it as a small D, we can always convert him to center. ;)
This was a gutsy pick. With the team having so may draft picks, a consideration of this player’s incredible skill levels and no pressing need for the team to compete now, a swing for the fences late in the second round was reasonable in all the circumstances. For the second time in the draft, the team’s management chose to ignore the popular consensus, in Hutson’s case, that he lacks the size to play effectively in the NHL.

While I understand the calculus of the decision, at this point in the draft, I would have chosen another defenceman, London Knights’, Isiah George. While following Mailloux’s development I came away impressed with George’ combination mobility, size and vision. He looks very similar to Morgan Reilly at the same stage of their respective development curves. It would not surprise me if George has a better career than many of the defencemen taken before him. While George may not have the home rum potential of Hutson, he’s certainly able to be a triple. And who here doesn’t like triples particularly at the end of the second round?

His hockeydb profile pic suggests he's about to start noticing girls for the first time:

Hutson clarified that he’ll be playing at BU this upcoming season (22-23). Not sure why EP says 23-24.

because he was supposed to be there the following season but like Poehling he advanced his studies so he could join his older brother who will be a Freshman next year as well at BU.

It’s a great gamble. Not many 5’8” dmen league wide, but if he does get to that 5’10” 185 range he can be a superstar. Just needs to be big enough to survive.

Ironically enough, Slaf has the opposite problem weight wise. He has the type of frame where he could probably balloon up to 240 real easy. Keeping him around 215-220 will be key.

Why? 240lbs might be his ideal weight. Some guys with big frames look sickly of they get to light. Slaf hadn't filled out yet and some reports have him at 230lbs. I'm guessing his "man weight" will be 240.

Is his confirmed height 5'8 I've seen everything from 5'7 - 5'9?

Edit: these were supposed to be separate, HF bugs.

Thankyou, considering the bone age thing and his dad and brother both growing after turning 19 and ending up 5'11 I have a lot of hope for this kid.

5'10 - 5'11 is fine height. Just really need him to put on some muscle too.

That's the best news. If he can become 5"10 (Like Girard and Hughes) or 5"11 (Like Fox and Makar).

That would be really perfect.

Amazing pick by Habs!

Yes. He was asked after the draft what his plans are for next year since he is set to go to BU in 2023-24.

He confirmed that he is actually going this fall. So he will be in the NCAA next year.
Did he graduate HS early? Honest question and thanks.

Yeah he’s insanely dynamic, reminds me a bit of marner the way he uses his hands, edges and vision

what NCAA team has his rights?

If i remeber correctly I heard he was comparing his own style to Marner.

So if you didnt hear it before, than you anlyzed his game the same way he does.

His "condition" lol. Said condition being he's short?

Let's not stigmatize the vertically challenged.

From what I understand his bone growth is delayed relative to age. How would you define it? Go sniff around elsewhere to show your woke. Dead end here.
