I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think our third pair should be Durzi - Walker instead of Edler - Durzi. Edler legitimately can hardly skate out there.
There was a breakout in the 1st or 2nd, don't remember which, where Kupari had the puck at the goal line and turned up ice. Edler was standing at the halfwall and Kupari passed it to where Edler should have been if he would have started skating but instead just stood there like a tree and watched the puck go right past him to nobody. It was truly comical.

But that's probably just me being victim of the "group think".

did any one notice that durzi went to the backhand to clear the puck near the end of the third even though he had time, i think its becoming 2nd nature to him now, and his only egregious play was screening korpi on the 2nd goal with buchard going left to right he moved moved to the middle and right in front of him........good thing was that korpi didn't show him up by blaming him even a little

Like usual this GDT was full of shit and the Kings end up winning.
My first post after the first period started with "probably my lowest point as a Kings fan" but I thought that might have been too much so I deleted it.

This team plays the exact opposite of the type of hockey I like so it makes it very hard to believe in their chances and, honestly, to really like the team.

In the movies, the wimpy dork getting picked on by the bully winds up punching the bully and getting the pretty girl at the end. If the Kings wind up with the pretty girl at the end then cool; however, simply getting bullied with nothing to show for it at the end is so painful to watch. It's really hard to have your favorite team, a team that you continue to hold season seats for and talk about too much online, be pretty much the antithesis of what you like about hockey.

That said, I didn't go to sleep and watched every second of it.

That was such an embarrassing 1st period. Pretty crazy turn around. I hope it was more the Kings and not the Oilers coasting. Almost had no business winning that game after the 1st.

You see what a difference it makes when you score on the PP and make them pay. That's key in this series for the Kings. Will make the Oilers think twice about their dirty crap.

I expect a blowout loss in game 2. Refs will call the game in Edm favor and McD will step it up. But that's ok. Stole one and without Fiala/GV.

Even if GV is ready for Game 2, i wonder if it'd be better to give him a few days more off. IDK -- it'd be a tough call for coach TM.

Durzi wasn't so bad. Good job kid.

Korpi showed why he's the #1 and guy you play in the playoffs.

Thought Byfield had a great game -- at least after that 1st period. Hopefully it continues and grows.

Anyone notice Trevor Moore's celebrations on the bench? That bench shot of them about to score the tying goal is so funny -- he's bouncing up & down in anticipation of a potential goal and then they score. Moore is like a little kid and one of us fans. It's hilarious to me. Makes me like the guy that much Moore.

Yes...we had a poor start, but it's the playoffs, and all that matters is how you finish. You need discipline, execution and score timely goals which results in breaking your opponent mentally more that physically. Once they are mentally beat, the adrenaline drains and they are toast.

Yup.

Edler actually played well last night, shame so many of you missed it.

Snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

PP needs to be a weapon (for LA ) this series.

Glad LA didn't get caught up in goonery nonsense.

I need a better angle but I'm not sold on the Iaffalo elbow incident. Looked to me like the Oiler through his head back to sell a call.

Oilers fans are just extra. An Oiler can't go down in that building without the crowd jeering.

I think the Kings did what they had to do. Would like to see them take the game to them a bit more in game 2 but with the Oilers juggernaut sometimes you just have to prevent and take what you can get.

Expecting the Oilers to be pissed and amped up even more next game.

Edler seemed slow as molasses on a cold Edmonton day but he made a few good plays too.

The Kings are usually the team that dominates the first and finds a way to lose late or in OT. Nice to be on the other side of it.

Last year, each game of the series never saw the eventual winner trail in the game. Is this a fluke and/or growth by the Kings? Since it relied on the Kings scoring on the pp, I think some of both.

By the way, pretty wild that JAD played in just three of the Kings' last 21 games and lined up in game one. What the hell was the point of acquiring and playing MacEwen for all those games, then? Shouldn't JAD have been playing in at least a few of those games if the plan was for him to play in the playoffs?

Turns out you can't tip a puck into the net with a stick about one foot above the crossbar, and have it be a good goal.
That was perfect - give the home fans an ersatz feeling of victory followed by the death knell a few minutes later.

It was easy to miss Edler last night considering he was the guy always nearly off the screen chasing the guy with the puck.

Your schtick is ridiculous at this point. You can keep on believing you're the only one smart enough to see how great these players are that actually suck if it makes you feel better.

Edler is terrible and so is MacEwan. Neither belong on a playoff roster.

I thought the same thing. My guess is, it was an extended tryout for MacEw to see what he could bring to the table... and it looks like he brought not a whole lot.

I rarely go to other boards but I’m shocked at how many Oilers fans are saying the refs are cheating for the Kings on behalf of Bettman. I know there are a few on every team board including this one, but there are dozens and dozens of these comments over there.

Imagine thinking that the league is coercing the officials to make sure your team loses. Especially when your team has the NHL’s most heavily marketed generational star in decades.
Do I have it right? The NHL wants McDavid and the Oilers to lose, so Bettman conducts a secret operation behind the scenes to pressure the refs to make sure the LA Kings advance?

It’s just so stupid. Such an emotional triggered response.

“The league is out to get us!!”.

f*** off you entitled cry baby shit dicks.

Remember when Bettman rigged the draft so LA could get McDavid?

The Kings showed grit. The took poundings but kept going. Not a physical playoff specimen of a team but I am proud of the boys.
