Kings!
Canadian hockey fans are the some of the worst fans in North American sports. They’re like the casual ignorance of Texas football fans crossed with the psychotic zealotry of European football fans. Hockey is so ingrained in their culture they end up going full Dunning Kruger and vastly overrate their understanding of the game.
Couple that with nothing else going on the city of Edmonton, and an immense entitlement complex, and you get Oilers fans.
When I was in Edmonton last month for the kings game, some guy in his early 20's had the most pathetic shit talking I've ever been the recipient of.
He asked me if I remembered game 7 of the first round last year.
I was like "uh yeah".
"How'd that feel?"
"Not good but I was around when the kings won the cup in 2012 and 2014. You'll be lucky if you ever get to experience that."
"That's like old history, man"
It was a very odd exchange to say the least. The tone and his demeanor were super intense while he was questioning me. According to my wife there were a number of comments or insults that I never knew were directed at me. Like passive aggressive comments said under their breath. If you go on YouTube or Twitter, it's clear that most of these fans are children regardless of their age.
