This was a bit of a rough read from both sides.

“We’re close to [winning more games],” Quinn said. “We want to win hockey games. He wants to win hockey games.”

Labanc has no dispute with that: “When we’re not winning, it’s just frustrating for everyone.”

It's not frustrating to the fans that understand Sharks need higher draft picks tho. These guys wanting to win is problematic.

I think the part that I was frustrated by was Labanc basically parroted what Quinn said and then added “I don’t know, they see things different than I do.”

They do say there’s constant conversation and it’s more of a collaboration but man that is just not a good sign. This is a guy who they were relying on to be on their top line. The fact that Labanc doesn’t understand what the coaching staff wants from him over halfway through the season is wild to me.

I think it was perfectly reasonable for the coaching staff to take issue with the gaffe that led to his scratch. I don't think scratching him was the right call. I'm far from a Labanc fan obviously but he didn't deserve that after even that bad error and he didn't need to be scratched to learn from it. Labanc has never been strong defensively and never been strong with the puck exiting the zone but the guy coming in isn't a better option for winning than Labanc and that's what should be the bottom line.

Yah, it's like Quinn is irate that the square peg doesn't fit the round hole he's trying to jam it into.

I like that they're trying, but you shouldn't expect a chihuahua to perform where a bloodhound is required.

I think this is the right read

Labanc is obviously a frustrating player, he's been in the doghouse for 3 different coaches now, and the things he needs to improve are obvious

HOWEVER, at this point he basically is the player he is and who he is going to be so a competent coaching staff should have found a role for him by now, especially on a team with so little talent

Quinn and Labanc are just the Spiderman meme right now, they're both terrible at their job and they've decided to try to blame each other for their own shortcomings

Greenway for Labanc straight up. I think Jordan Greenway is Exactly type of player that could thrive with us in a change of scenery. Not sure what’s going on there in Minny with his attitude and all that but if his heads on straight and is just tired of that org id be excited to get him.

Adding Greenway and Puljijarvi would be interesting. Two big bodied, younger players with the ability to score. Maybe 2nd to 3rd line players that could thrive with guys like Sturm and Lorentz. Could you imagine a team of guys like Hertl, Greenway, Puljijarv, Lorentz and if we drafts Carlsson or Fantilli? All 6’3 and above. Just linebackers on skates.

What does this do for cap space?
Nothing whatsoever. Minor league player swap. In actual salary, Criscuolo is making more money, though his cap hit is smaller if he ever gets called up (doubtful for both players anyway, so I doubt it matters).

Was this the good ole days of 2018/2019 when they probably had the best team on paper of any team and should have won a cup… that year should have been the year. F the Blues.
