Eklund - Hertl - Duclair
Zadina - Couture - Barabanov

Or some version of that (swap around as you see fit) is actually a fun top 6. Zadina and Duclair have a lot of leeway to find their game and if they can, there’s actually a fair amount of skill there. At least more than we had last year!
Kaut should come back so we can have a Czeching line.

Yes, I said it, and no, I don't care.

is eklund really ready for top 6 min? would it not be better to have eklund on 3rd line then let petersson play in top 6
His IQ, skill, and general finesse is top 6 ready. Idk if he's totally ready for the physicality on the boards but we'll see if he can get by with his edgework.

Fan of a divisional opponent here in peace, just wanted to say I think you guys have done a good job in making value adds that could pay off big time. Case in point, taking Blackwood from NJ and Duclair from Florida, signing Zadina for the upside and adding solid foot soldiers like Burroughs (he was a favorite for his toughness here, treat him well). Of course the depth likely isn't quite there beyond Couture/ Hertl/ Barabanov/ Karlsson/ Eklund/ Kunin/ Labanc/ Sturm, but you've got some interesting pieces that are worth the gamble and who could be foundation pieces moving forward.

I think Eklund will need to become Marchessault-esque to make it longterm. He's actually very tough and doesn't shy away, but he needs to start going that route because I don't think he has the style or skill level to turn into a Gaudreau or even Barabanov. Usually you see smaller skill guys (Like Barb) try and control the ice when they have the puck, which Eklund's style doesn't really let him do.

Have you seen the terrible contracts and terrible decisions our former GM saddled us with (OEL trade, Myers signing)? We know what being numb to these is all about. Bring it in. 🫂
Yeah, there should be a kinship here, though I think the tough part is Sharks fans still getting over not liking the Canucks' good teams that overlapped with ours.

But there is the similarity of having a good team for an extended period, making the Cup final, not winning one, but having lots of enjoyable star players along the way. And Vancouver is one of the eight teams with longer Stanley Cup droughts, so hey, at least we have that!

Elliott’s Friedman was just on NHL Network. He says he thinks this is a poker game between San Jose and Pittsburgh and Carolina. He thinks they all have the offers on the table. He thinks no one is 100 percent happy and that’s why nothing has happened.
Just putting it out there.
MG has ice in his veins - I would have accepted something by now lol

Seriously. For a first time GM, he really seems to have a shrewd confidence to him. I mean, a week into his career, the dude traded down a top 15 pick. I dig it. We’ll see ultimately what he can do, but I give him nothing but high marks this summer, from the draft to the trades to the signings. Now, if he can nail the Karlsson trade…
