I’d definitely be open to getting Hart in the right circumstance. I wouldn’t want to give up any of our picks or Eklund, Shakir, Thrun, Gushchin, Bystedt, but I’m pretty sure everything else would be on the table. I don’t really see a trade that would work for PHI though unless it’s a bigger trade for EK or some kind of Barabanov for Hart swap.

I’m starting to think there would be a third team involved.

I don’t know honestly. There was a lot of talk that PHI wants to retool and not necessarily rebuild. They have Ersson and Fedotov as the future in goal and it seems like Hart has been disgruntled a bit. I think there was even talk he asked for a trade (although I’m not 100% on that and might be misremembering). They wanted to rebuild their defense and right now their defense is basically Sanheim and a bunch of hopes or trash. I wonder if there’s a deal around Ferraro and Hart?

Sounds fair. I love Mario but he’d be a fan favorite there. Many around here seem to have soured on him. Hart would probably do better here, less pressure.

Think Murray more likely than Hart. Think SJ may be involved in the Hart deal given the rumblings that TOR might be in on him and need to send Murray's money out the door (Philly took Petersen so they don't have a spot for it in theory).

SJ - Matt Murray + 28th Overall (TOR)
TOR - Carter Hart + 6th rounder (SJ)
PHI - 36th Overall (SJ) + 2024 3rd Rounder (TOR)

Toronto would basically get Hart for Murray, 1st, and 3rd which would be pretty fair deal I think given cap dump of Murray.
I think Philly would need much more in this deal. They aren't giving up Hart for a 2nd and a 3rd.

Zero reason to take another mid 20's interesting but ultimately ehh goalie, unless he has dirt cheap contract and acquisition price. Until the middle of the future D core (Muk, Thrun, Ferraro, Knyzhov, Havelid?, and any of this years picks) have a couple more years to develop together, any goalie they bring in will just end up getting his value tanked by the same bad team play that has been an issue for 4 years.

Way better off getting payed to take on vet reclamation projects, getting prospects that can flip between AHL/NHL, and/or signing aging vets cheap.

getting hart just doesn't make much sense while our defense is in flux like it is and then you run into the continuing question of who's worse, our defense or our goalie.

Why not? Either he bounces back and you get a solid goalie or he's the new tank commander. Unless the cost is ridiculously high, it's definitely worth it.

I don't necessarily agree with it, but judging by the interested teams list, he has legitimate starter trade value.

I imagine Toronto may want to find a way to get Barabanov in the deal as well.

In terms of his general stats. Even if it was the Flyers defense, his crap general stats will decrease his value.
Yeah I mean excellent was an overstatement on my part probably but I think when you consider how many teams are interested, whatever value his stats bring him down, the demand will bring it back up.

2.97 goals against and a .907 save % is not what i would call crap. On a horrible team, this is a team that allowed 3.37 goals against.

Among goalies to play 30+ games he was 19th in the league in save%.

Carter Hart is a stud. At his age most goalies still haven't even established themselves in the NHL. He's performed like an above-average starter in 3 of 5 seasons and isn't even in his prime yet. Before his awful COVID season, which now looks like a crazy anomaly, he was being talked about as Team Canada's Olympic starter.

Does Auston Matthews have any actual ties to NorCal other than being born here?

Just wondering if SJ is a legit contender to sign him if he makes it to UFA.

Not sure any goalie is worth getting right now until the defense is fixed

For sure, not advocating for the Sharks to trade for him but he's really good and should probably be worth a top 10 pick. I'd be tempted to offer 26th+Bordeleau for him and see if the Flyers bite but I agree that ultimately this is way too soon for the Sharks to be trading for a long term starter.

I think my offer would be Ferraro, Barabanov, Bordeleau for Hart and Farabee. Not sure about the value though.
