This is me, just spit balling. Fabbro and Procop, (First openly gay NHLer in the Bay area? You can print jerseys and tickets for days! You don't care but owner will. Since your AHL club is in the Bay Area too... Oh, BTW, BIG RHD whose ceiling I believe is Hal Gill) and taking Vlasic's contract. (Preds are speculated to be 18 mil under the cap next year). IF!!!! SJ is willing to part with #4.
f*** no. Sharks are moving their pick to dump Vlasic. I might give up their 2nd for that but even then that’s pushing it.

I certainly wouldn't do it for two players who might each be #4 defensemen and some cap space.
Number 4 D for both is a big question mark. I’d be surprised if Prokop is more than a bottom pair D. Fabbro had a rough year. I think he bounces back but I wouldn’t pay on that thought.

Only way we're trading #4 (or 2 or 3 if we end up there) is if Edmonton or Toronto chokes their respective round 1 series and their GMs decide to blow it up by putting McDavid and Matthews on the block.

and I miscommunicated again. It's not a complete trade out. I am ASSUMING SJ needs RHD there are two very good RHD but expected to be picked 11-14. I'm thinking the Preds get a pick at that range, and SJ trades down.

Eother thank you for the opinions.

Total offtopic but I just realized that Couture is the same age now as Pavelski was in his last season with us in 2018-2019 season. And I remember that time there was already talk that Pavs should be traded before he is too ''old'' and I just feel so confused that I thought Couture was so much younger right now.

I figured the best way to evaluate this would be to consider the realistic ceiling of the players involved, so while #4 is a question mark in both cases, I figured it was at least reasonable. Certainly I'd rather have a potential #1C/W than two potential #4D.

I don't think adding an 11-14 pick moves that needle either. It's just not enough to give up a potential franchise forward whose floor is still probably a middle-six starter, to get two middling prospects and a proven but mediocre defenseman and some cap space.

I think I'd need something like Kemell, Tomasino/Evangelista, Fabbro, #15 for Sharks 2023 #4 and Vlasic. I just don't think that's realistic and even then it might not be good enough for the Sharks.

What if that #4 pick actually turns out to be #6 after the lottery? How would you feel about what you laid out but with the #6 instead? I'd do it.

I’m not super high on Kemell and I don’t think Tomasino or Evangelista make up the difference between 11-14 and Smith, Benson, Moore, or Reinbacher
I also am not much of an amateur scout, so I wouldn't be firm at all on any specific prospect. The names are more placeholders of value than anything

Honestly...really consider the other team's situation when coming up with a deal (on their board no less). That is beyond atrocious and very insulting on the eyes to read.

Yeah, We're not paying to get rid of a bad deal when we're already this bad and don't really have any hope of improving enough to compete. They have to eat what they can the next couple years minimum. I also doubt they're going to put that much effort into a big deal that their top draft pick would be when they're going to putting a lot of time into moving Karlsson. It's not going to be a good look trading Karlsson either way but adding a trade like that moving the top pick you sucked all year for would only make it worse.

Seriously why do the Preds need Askarov anyways. They've got Saros who is sooooo good. They could get a haul for Askarov.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they moved Saros down the line. They’re selling and Askarov is a good excuse to sell high on Saros considering all they sold at the deadline.

I know they have options with two goalies like that but I just keep thinking back to how the Kings kept playing Quick even though they had very highly-regarded goalie prospects that were ready (Bernier, etc.). Why trade Saros when he's a sure thing and why not Askarov instead as he hasn't even stepped on NHL ice yet right?

Friends, I know you have all missed me dearly these last few months. It is finally time to reveal that I have been undergoing intensive mental and physical training that allows me to travel between parallel universes.

I just returned from a trip to a universe where Doug Wilson never stepped down as Sharks GM. I am still recovering from my journey and piecing together what I learned but there are a few things I can report back to you all.

He signed Meier to an 8-year, 9.5M/year extension ("We believe Timo is up there with the Kucherovs and the Stones as an elite winger in the NHL and this contract reflects that") and Ferraro to an 8-year, 5M/year extension ("We believe Mario is a top four defenseman and future captain in this league"). Reimer was traded last offseason instead of Hill and Burns is still a Shark. The first year of Eklund's ELC was burned before he was finally sent down at the 40 game mark when he had 10 points. Thanks to Hill's .915 SV% (which earned him a 5x5 extension of his own), Burns turning in a 60 point season and Meier being on the roster all year, the Sharks finished with 85 points and another 11th overall pick. DWJr. is giddy with excitement over the 5'10" winger he plans to select with it. The Sharks are already $3 million above the 2023-24 salary cap.

Needless to say, I am relieved to be back in this universe and am never leaving again.

What did he do at the 2022 draft?

Pretty sure this is the other universe’s Hodge because this one has a sense of humor and I sort of like it.

That is because my travels have revealed to me the fundamental truth of this and all universes, which is that we are all one and the same. How can I denigrate my fellow Sharks fans when I am Pinkfloyd, I am Patty Ice, I am TheBeard, separated only by the illusory circumstances of time and space? Even Doug Wilson and Doug Wilson's son do not deserve scorn for their incompetence. They deserve forgiveness.

The Sandisfan in me recognizes the Sandisfan in you, and that's a post we can all like.

I’m drafting this Hodge in the 1st round of the HF draft.
