Bold as Boognish
Grier singlehandedly turning our defense prospect pool into something respectable
3rd rounder, but if he signs good gamble.Thrun for a 4th in 2024? I don't mind the gamble.
Edit: a 3rd. Still don't mind it.
Getting all the neat names in San Jose
Guess I don't see a way that the market would value a player with his production that lowly. Megna and Hill both went for 4th rounders this year. Nino went for a 2nd at 0.5 PPG production. Barabanov is signed on a bargain deal as a non-rental. Just see there being absolutely zero precedent for a guy in that situation garnering a mere 3rd round pick.I just don't see a team offering more than a 3rd for Barabanov which just isn't worth moving him to me. If someone offers a 2nd then I'd be open to moving him but I just don't see it as a high priority. Anybody not worth a 2nd or more should just be kept until the trade deadline of their contract's expiring year.
I think he's focusing on Centers in a C-heavy draft so I don't mind him focusing on D at the moment.Within the last year we've added Mukhamadullin, Okhotyuk, Thrun, Havelid, Fisher, and Furlong to the D pipeline. Not too bad, and hopefully we add another with NJ 1st/our 2nd this year
6’2” 190 kid who is playing at Harvard and is scoring at a great clip year after year. He comes from the USNDPI know people really wanted Thrun. Who is he?
Also, Grier is completely redoing our terrible defensive prospect pool, and I’m thrilled.
If they can get a 2nd then yeah go for it but I just don't see it. Nino may not produce like Barabanov now but Nino is a proven playoff commodity. Barabanov doesn't have any playoff experience so that probably plays a part in it.Guess I don't see a way that the market would value a player with his production that lowly. On the negative side, this could be Grier handing out another 3rd round pick for free if this guy doesn't sign.
Grier: Where does this guy go to schoolYou gotta imagine they had preliminary talks.
They've got a good amount of picks where they can risk one for a player that may end up being a steal. On the negative side, this could be Grier handing out another 3rd round pick for free if this guy doesn't sign.
This. Was absolutely needed.Within the last year we've added Mukhamadullin, Okhotyuk, Thrun, Havelid, Fisher, and Furlong to the D pipeline. Not too bad, and hopefully we add another with NJ 1st/our 2nd this year
There will be other suitors in the offseason. If the Oilers pick up another dman like they are rumored to in the next few days I'm pretty sure it solidifies that Karlsson will be a shark for the remainder of the contract.
