Speculation: 2022-23 Sharks Roster Discussion Part II

If (and this is only if) NJD is offering close to what we expect, I’d ask for Cormier, Cotter, Dean or Brisson, and 2 firsts from Vegas. I also would not take back any cap unless it’s actual useful cap.

If that is what we got from Vegas I’d be very disappointed. St Louis was reportedly offering 2 first round picks plus a prospect that was turned down and that mock offer from Vegas is worse because their firsts are even later and their prospects suck. It has to be 3+ first round picks.

boy, now I’m getting nervous. Still confused about what possibly Vegas has to offer us.
Just a few quick hits on their prospects:

Lukas Cormier-20 year old LD with 29 points in 46 games. Cormier is a bit undersized (5’ 10”) but at least in his draft year, didn’t really play undersized. Two way D probably caps out at 2nd pair but could grow into better.

Paul Cotter-23 year old winger that capfriendly says can play C. 15 points in 41 NHL games but 11 of those are goals. Basically this guy is what we hoped Gregor would be. Fast, uses his size well, and has a good shot. Probably caps out as a complimentary top 9 player.

Zach Dean-20 year old C prospect with 49 points in 38 games in QMJHL. He is who I think Grier would target. Two way C that plays a bit of a safe game. Personally I’m not a fan and I think he tops out as 3C but maybe someone else that isn’t biased can talk a bit more.

Brendan Brisson-20 year old W prospect with 19 points in 38 AHL games. Pure offensive winger here. I like him actually but his production this year isn’t what I’d expect.

They have a few other guys that I liked at various points like Sapovaliv, Brabenec, Chayka, Dorofeyev, Morozov, Korczak that I can talk about if you want but none of those guys should be talked about as the primary piece and would be the 3rd or 4th pieces.

Brisson hasn't been productive in AHL.
He hasn’t but also his first season there. 0.5 PPG in his first season (only 20) isn’t really bad I don’t think.

Strong sense the Meier trade will go down in the next 24hrs.

I believe the Sharks are down to 2 teams in the Timo Meier trade talks and my sense is those 2 teams are New Jersey and Vegas. So, still work to be done. Obviously a fluid situation, but I think that's where things are at right now. @TSNHockey @TheAthleticNHL

HSK has been hanging around bottom of division all season. It's been very uninspired hockey for team.

Unless GMMG feels that Bordeleau will click with college linemate if reunited I don't see it.

And will VGK ever stop trading top prospects for ready-made players?

Assuming they possibly gave up a 1st or something near it here, I don't see how LV can be in on Timo. He has to be going to NJ

Dreger says just a prospect

So I agree with what you said in the first paragraph but I kind of view it a different way. The exact opposite in fact. Is he underperforming because of the environment? We saw under Boughner a team that was very uninspired and multiple guys playing like poop. Under Quinn they’ve looked more inspired (just lacking skill).

Now don’t get me wrong I’d still prefer the Devils trade and this is 100% just me coping so I’m not disappointed.

What are the odds the prospect is the only valuable one they have

I can't see how Vegas could be a finalist if STL offered 2x1st round picks and Grier told them to keep their jack unless he is either clueless about talent evaluation or Vegas has offered crapload of stuff.
It’s a crap load of crap. Grier doesn’t like the Sharks prospect pool so he wants to pillage a worse prospect pool?

Must be like 3x1st round picks and then some. As VGK pics are going to be very late 1sts if they get Meier as they were already stacked, traded to get Barbashev and then they would have Meier.

I will say their goaltending could easily let them down. Logan Thompson is hurt (supposed to return this season but who knows when), Adin Hill and Laurent Broissoit are the other two goalies.
