As I wrote in the Will GMMG mess up trade deadline thread.......

Well if DW had combined assets used in his trades for something bigger in one Trade deadline, it may have been enough to get over the hump. Getting two good assets that don't push your team over the finish line, whereas paying more assets for one significantly better player could/would, then using assets for two players and not getting there could be fools gold.

I don't know if Timo was ever going to be a realistic option for Toronto because of his contract situation. ROR is a great pickup and he'll do great for them, and his style certainly helps them in the playoffs.

Agreed.

SF, you don't often make many posts and you sure don't have as a big a mouth as a lot of posters here. . . . but whenever you post something, it's like GOSPEL~!! Preach my brother!

Who really knows - but if it was more then a maintenance day wouldn't they replace him with a real option on his line ? Instead of a stand in defender (simek) just holding his place

I don't think we even have an extra forward available right now. So unless someone...uh, like, Viel or Suess, lol, gets called up, I guess we're left with Simek as our jack-of-all-trades fill-in. Might as well make him our EBUG now, too.

On a side note, do we think that if Meier gets traded, Grier will finally bite the bullet and bring up Bordeleau and/or Eklund? Not just to fill a spot or because they may have earned it, but because it would be a way to appease/excite fans who are angry or disappointed to see a star player traded?

I think Kaut gets called up first. I'd call Gushchin up over Eklund and Bordeleau as well, since he's the only one without some NHL games. Let Ek and Bordeleau push for a playoff spot with fun meaningful games in the AHL instead of them getting their nuts kicked in the NHL while all the other teams fight for spots.

My gut instinct tells me that it really is just something day-to-day. May or may not be something serious for all we know, but they’re wanting to keep him healthy and keep him out of harms way as a precaution.
at least that’s what I would assume.
