20 min in for Timo talk.
yup, the asking is too high for Meier. Timo walks and the sharks get nothing. So what is plan B, if Timo walks?
Timo is pending RFA. He either negotiates new deal with Sharks, or arbitration, or he signs offer sheet (which Sharks can match, or take compensation, probably 4 first round picks).

Do we have a new team interested?

After what they paid for Horvat I don’t think they have anything of value to offer.

Curious why we haven’t seen an Eklund or Bordeleau call up so far this season. Both guys having big rookie years in the minors and it would seem that a couple games in the NHL would help them see where they need to get better.

I think barring our first pick being outside of the top 5, he moves it for multiple picks.
Eklund has another ELC slide that the Sharks can utilize this year so there is no reason to burn an ELC year on a team that isn't going anywhere this year or next. If you can push it to next year, you're free from the Vlasic and Burns money by the time he needs a new deal and will only have 1 more year on the Karlsson retention (however much that will be).

Outside of the ELC stuff, I also just think the org wants to try and develop the Cuda players and see what they have there with a full roster of guys playing against their contemporaries rather than trying to evaluate a youngster playing out of place potentially in the NHL.

San Jose has to be at least 4-5 years away from competing.

As an ELITE nhl GM...(👀😁) I would of course move every valuble piece above 27 years of age, to fill up with prospects and picks.

No use riding Karlsson, if anything hd just ruins the full tank and getting someone like Bedard.

SJ can even eat 30-40% of the salary to get something really good in return.

This is a very good article.

If St. Louis was going to make a serious offer, I think it would be something like Snuggerud + one of their later 1sts, or their own 1st (top-2 protected) and a B prospect. But I bet they’ll try and make an offer with Bolduc and one of the later 1sts, refuse to include their 1st or Snuggerud, and Grier will ultimately look elsewhere.

Hopefully he uses the two 1st rounders thing as a way to bring up the price with the other teams in play.

Tough because it wouldn't take a large package for me to move him- But IDK about retaining 5 million for him to play for the Oilers without getting a return either.

And really, we're not just talking $5 million. We're talking $5 million for four years, so more than $20 million in total. Hasso is obviously outrageously wealthy, but I also imagine asking him to sign off on that much dead money--on top of what he's already writing off for Burns and Jones--could be a bit of a challenge.

If oilers were sending a crazy valuable package I can see eating the money, but not for some cap dumps
