Speculation: 2022-23 Sharks Roster Discussion Part II

Karlsson isn't a dummy. He would have heard about these rumors by now and it's very easy for him to call Grier and say, nope. I'm sure if he looked at his career over the next four years and had to decide between playing with McDavid and having a real chance at the cup or playing with Harrington and having a real chance at a top 5 draft pick, he's going to pick the Oilers 100% of the time.

just wants a free ticket tbh
Didn't Grier demote him anyway? Maybe he's scouting talent for a new Sharkie.

An appropriate role for Will! (can he skate?)

Fantastic interview with Mike McKenna from Sheng Peng; McKenna absolutely lays into the Sharks's goaltending, questioning Nabokov and the team's scouting.
I posted the article yesterday. Nabby getting "promoted" to the director of goaltending is probably for the best considering the failings of having him be the only goaltending voice in the FO. We'll have to see how Thomas Speer does but I was looking at his LinkedIn and he does have a more modern goalie coaching training, and cooperated directly with Mike Valley for a long time too.

Good. I never understood why the Sharks would bring in a goalie coach who played an outdated style. (i know why, but still)

Meier and EK65 mentions, but nothing new.

Sharks being mentioned as the favorites for Valterri Pulli seemed notable.

Been off the grid here most of the season dealing with some family health stuff. Personally, think the route that Grier is going is positive in starting to tear it down and am excited to see what sort of talent he's able to add to this roster in the next 4 months between the draft, TDL, and UFA. Fact that we're assuredly trading Meier and entertaining Karlsson trade offers means that I think we hired the right guy for the job rather than a yes man that was going to keep miring in mediocrity and not change course in either direction.

The perfect fit: Timo Meier
The trade: Meier and a 2023 fourth-round pick for LHD prospect Alexander Nikishin, C prospect Ryan Suzuki and Carolina’s 2023 first-round pick

The perfect fit: Timo Meier
The trade: Meier (50 percent retained) for RW Alexander Holtz, a 2023 first-round pick, RD Seamus Casey, a 2024 fourth-round pick and Andreas Johnsson

Athletic article on perfect fit for everyone.

First look had me thinking those were different value packages but it’s just because of Johnsson and the 4th on closer look. I’d be okay with either of those although I’d prefer the CAR one.

Id do the NJ one. Holtz, Casey and that late 1st are pretty solid assets. Adresses the forward and D groups and that late 1st can be flipped for two 2nds easily. 3 2nd rd picks seems like it’s right up MG’s alley.

The TPS connection makes that a no brainer. We should have a good idea of what his game is like
