What do you guys think about trying Vlasic - Karlsson again? I mean it's no playoffs season anyway, why not try out something that if works, could give Vlasic something to actually do. I know Vlasic has gone very much downhill these couple of seasons, but it kind of gives him something to work for.
The perfect scenario would be to get Ferraro - Karlsson working together well. I just think Ferraro and Karlsson should be in different lines to spread the depth somehow.

Vlasic - Karlsson
Ferraro - Merkley
Nutivaara - Benning
Megna

I don't anything anyone will like this idea, but it just is kinda whatever right now. I feel like Vlasic could actually be even more motivated to work now that a big piece in Burns is gone and there is more space in depth.
I think we are more likely to see Vlasic- Merkley as the 3rd pairing. The whole key to figuring out our defense pairings is who Quinn chooses to play the hard minutes against the other teams best players.

Quinn seems like a no nonsense, blue collar guy, which I like. I could see him cramming Karlsson into that slot until EK65 demands a trade because it’s too tough on him. I have a feeling Quinn’s gonna love Hatakka and Ferraro.

It’s going to be really interesting to see what happens to Karlsson. I don‘t expect Mike and Quinn to coddle him the way DW and Boughner did.

Okay, chief, you take a swing at a comparable trade with Jersey’s roster. Because Bratt and Holtz ain’t it.
It 100% is chief. Don’t know if you’re crazy underrating the FLA players or crazy overrating the NJD players. A 100+ point softish player and a 2D for a 100+ point physical player with an extension vs an 80+ point softish player and a great prospect for an 80+ point physical player with an extension.

Not even close.

Sharks trading someone?
If I had to guess it’s nothing but clickbait but on the off chance it’s not and something is actually happening I’d guess it’s Ferraro resigning or a goalie trade. Maybe a buyout.

Actually they posted it right before 11 so I’d guess it’s a buyout or them hoping for a buyout.

Has anyone heard anything about MG talking to Hertl and Meier? I’m curious how those conversations went. If they haven’t happened I think that’s very bizarre. If they have and maybe the sentiment was Meier didn’t see himself staying, how long before MG makes a move on him.

I don’t know how you can’t see that two early 20s players with many years of team control are not the same as two late 20s players each with a single year of team control. But you’ll keep pretending their the same thing

You understand that Bratt isn’t signed right? Bratt could easily take his QO and be a UFA next season and is in the exact same contract situation as Hubby and Weegar who both have more value than Bratt. But you’ll keep pretending THEY’RE not equivalent.

Except tkathuk was signed before the trade happened, so it was 7 years of him vs 1 for the others.

Because they’re not? The likelihood that a UFA and a RFA test the market are worlds apart. And you keep pretending that they aren’t.

Edit: upon re-reading what you wrote, WTF are you talking about? Him accepting a QO has no impact on his UFA status. He’s currently 23, and neither being 24 nor having signed a single year qualifying offer contract makes him a UFA. So what the f*** are you even talking about?

Tkachuk and Dubois are two examples THIS SEASON that either did or threatened to do exactly what I am saying. I’m not pretending they aren’t. I’m saying a Palat Severson package is no where near comparable to Hubby and Weegar and it’s an insult that you think it is. Huberdeau has played with scrubs up until this season (he doesn’t play with Barkov) and still has 4 PPG seasons. Palat has played with top quality players and has 0. Severson wishes he was Weegar. Severson is a 4D that is an FA after this season too by the way. Weegar is a 2D.

Bratt is an RFA you’re right but he’s also not signed and has had issues with the Devils management in the past. Holtz is a good prospect who would likely be either 2 or 3 on our prospect rankings but still a prospect.
