Lol. “This stat disagrees with me so it’s bad even though you provided all the context needed.” You’re arguing as poorly as Hodge. Benning is a shit player that shouldn’t make more than league minimum.
It's been pretty well-established for over a decade amongst those that follow and banter about hockey on the internet that +/- is a garbage stat.

+/- is a bad stat, and Benning has put up solid metrics

Merkley was also stapled to the corpse of Vlasic all year, so I can't blame him for whatever lapses are there either
I'll also cut Merkley some slack because it seems he was clearly under orders to play a certain way by Boughner--which I think was echoed by Hedican during broadcasts--to simplify his game, play as conservatively as he knew possible, and in the o-zone to go against his instincts and adjust how he shot the puck or what he did with it.

That's not to say that these adjustments won't help him in the long run, but you could really see he was in his own head a lot of the time. All things considered I think he did okay. He got more o-zone starts, but I seem to remember him spending an inordinate amount of time out there with one of our 4th lines (that would be the "3rd" or 4th line), so for his Corsi and Fenwick numbers to be in line or better than every defenseman but Karlsson isn't that bad of a performance.

Paywall. Sharks need top goal scorer to complement Hertl, Meier, Couture.

That would require Mike Grier to actually acquire a player that isn't replacement level waiver wire fodder, something that's clearly above his skill level.

I think Mike accepts that the Sharks aren’t going to be very good for the next several years. I‘m sure he would acquire a goal scorer if one became available for cheap but it looks like his focus is to change the culture of the team. He can do that even if we are bad. I’m reserving judgement until training camp.

Should've kept 23 to harness the power of Jordan. With 17, he'll only be good for one highlight reel goal in an otherwise unremarkable season.

Taco Tommy sounds okay though.

To be honest, I don't know what you see in Michal Jordan. :sarcasm:

I was thinking, as an experiment, what if Bordeleau gets played on Couture’s wing but also takes periodic face-offs/they sort of switch off? I think Couture is getting to the Pavelski part of his career where he’ll be far more effective as a scoring winger than a center, and I kinda like as an experiment, slow rolling Bordeleau in there with him.

So…

Eklund - Hertl - Labanc/Barabanov
Bordeleau - Couture - Meier

Or something in that world…

I could see Couture-Bordeleau-Meier being solid but idk about putting Bordeleau on the wing

I would love Couture - Bordeleau - Meier, that would give a good 2nd punch if Eklund - Hertl - Barbie get it going.

Still in disbelief that they extended Barabanov before hiring a GM. Hopefully Grier realizes how worthless that guy is and puts him on waivers. He doesn’t fit Grier’s preferred style of play at all.

Labanc and Barabanov are the 2 guys I think Grier won't wait to move on from. Problem is they could be hard to move.

Labanc is a hold and rebuild value so you can trade him next summer situation. Barabanov I would waive and send to the Cuda with the goal of strong-arming him into a mutual contract termination. He can probably make similar money in the KHL anyway.
