This is what happens when Blake builds a small soft roster; the Kings have to depend on one Lemieux or one MacEwen.

Look at the Ducks - they have Comtois, Carrick and Beaulieu.

The Wild - Reaves, Foligno, Duhane, and Middleton.

I can go on a on…Blake needs to start drafting size and character because both the Habs and Caps ran over the Kings.

Even though some of the Kings top prospects are big; Vilardi, Byfield and Kupari; they aren’t overly physical besides Ras. Spence and Turcotte are even smaller.

I love this team but we all know what’s going to happen in the playoffs and what Blake will need to address this off season. They are going to get bullied - the forwards are too small or not physical.

Btw Lemieux had a great first game in Philly, plus 3 and 5 hits and one really good scoring chance. But TM wouldn’t play him, so…
Abd neither Minny or ANA are winning a God damn thing

Walker is like that annoying friend you have that always wants to hang out but is terrible company.

What's the point of scratching JAD and Kaliyev when you put out two players you almost trust even less by giving them less than 6 minutes?

That's going to just wear down everyone else.
Oh we need a goalie, oh we need an LD, oh we need toughness in our lineup... lets go to the store and get some bandaids and see the doctor over the summer.

Isn't Byfield still only 20......20?!?....poor kid expected to be perfect at 20. sheesh, i'm glad some of you are not my dad. Might have crushed me before i had a chance to make something of myself and become the very successful person i am today.

It was a strange game, a lot of penalties that threw off the rotation of lines. Then you have a tied game going into the 3rd and TM had to shorten the bench. Washington was throwing their weight around so MacEwen was the right call. Next game is the Avs they have speed so MacEwen probably sits.

100%. So the beet business is good? Sugar beets, or the ones that taste like dirt?

I really only noticed MacEwen on 1 shift. He made a nice hustle play, promptly Stoll’ed it about 6 feet over the net, intercepted a clearing attempt and passed it 3 feet behind Doughty.

So whoever said he’d be another Andreoff was spot on!

It was the guys first shift in a month and a half, on a new team with new linemates. Might want to cut him some slack.

He won't be a regular and they will need to see what he can give them. One thing for certain is that asking a kid line to play 8 minutes trying to score instead of offering safe, predictable hockey ain't gonna work in the playoffs. Kaliyev needs bigger minutes or none at all at this level. Grundstrom and JAD struggle to be effective on the right side. Lemieux offered nothing positive at all this year. My preference would have been for a Lewis/Martinook type, but they wanted some size. Let him hang himself, if that's the case, no reason to start a lynch mob after one game.

I am going to put on my Curmudgeon hat.

It really bugs me when they post quickest wins in a certain timeframe for any goalie, considering a guaranteed outcome of a win/loss. I didn't like it when they touted it for Quick and I don't like it now they touted it for Copley.

Roy was on a solid upward arc then plateaued a bit after signing his deal and getting concussed. Then he was paired with Durzi, which is a tough assignment.

I think folks forget just how effective he was with Anderson and Bjornfot. Roy has another gear, but playing it safe for a couple of years took some of that shine off. Gavrikov and Roy are a mutually beneficial pairing, neither has to cover for a weaker partner, both can be more aggressive.

Thank God we have Blake to have the foresight to see the need at LHD and get a guy like Gav. One day some of us arm chair fans will get the knowledge of a former player like Blake and be able to see future needs like this before it becomes an issue and problem for the team. True chess player. Rest of posters who complain about the failings and needs on this team have no idea what they are talking about obviously.

Same with the goalie issue. Blake had the pulse of the team and their needs. figured out we needed a goalie before anyone could have seen it and got Copley up when nobody else was saying we had an organizational goalie problem.

We are truly lucky as fans.

Pretty much this, I think both guys got shoved so hard into shutdown/cover roles that they didn't have the opportunity to use their puck skills as much. So now that both/either guy can do that it's nice--but I guess also I didn't expect instant and awesome chemistry, it looks like they've been together years. Practically no feeling-out process.

If Gavrikov walks this was indeed a bad trade, unless we make it to the WCF, than it was worth it.

If not, than it will remind me of the Andrej Sekera trade. Did we have fun with him.

Sekera trade we didn't even make the playoffs -- so not sure that's a good comparable.
