Terrible period, basically toothless, 5 nothing-shots, one somewhat dangerous. Besides few average minutes in the first half of the period very poor.
I got to see Johnston actually throw a punch and look like he was angry. In person. And looked like he was trying to engage with the team.

I will remember this moment forever, like when I heard the Challenger exploded, Freddie Mercury died, and when I was asked if I believed in miracles.

Our guys that are currently in the NHL need to pop off in the worst way. I was so high on our prospects until our prospects were actually in the NHL, lol
The part that sucks is they’ll have minimal trade value from where we drafted them… and they will likely succeed in better coached teams/systems

This is part of the cycle. Competence for a few games, abhorrent for a few games. Let's see if they can pull themselves back into this one.

I really didn't think they played that poorly in Calgary, at least.
My complaint about Calgary wasn’t about how they played. It was about the lack of response to Flame gooning.

This is entirely the type of defense we should be able to take advantage of though.

We are simply no good without one of our top forwards, especially Terry.

Cronin’s contract structure was 2 years with the option for a third right? Don’t see the justification for picking it up
Of course there’s zero justification for bringing Cronin back next year when you look at things logically.

My fear is that Verbeek just looks at the standings and sees we went from 2nd worst to 6th worst and says “see, there was improvement”

And we drop the puck with Cronin in October.

Last couple games have looked brutal. The 3 wins are looking like an aberration mostly because we were playing bad goalies. We are capable of going on short little bursts but definitely can’t sustain anything.
Shouldn't come as a surprise at this point. All these stretches show is the team is capable of a higher level that Cro can't get from these guys consistently.

I mean. He hasn't played in a while, but I'm not against him getting conditioning in SD. He should've been doing that while not being played. I really don't get why he was just a practice ride along.
I know he hasn’t, but he is tentative, getting caught, not making passes, and in general looking like he was just called up.

I honestly wish that we had enough depth to send he AND Mintyukov to the Gulls for a couple weeks to get their games back together.

The problem with our forward depth is that Perreault and Tracey busted. Gaucher and Myatovic were drafted and could be headed that way.

Bad draft picks matter at some point

Better hope we hit on somebody from the Colangelo/Pastujov/Sidorov group or we’re in deep shit depth wise

Our drafting crew has not been solid with forwards at all. We NEED our high forward draft picks to be grand slams, but we also need some diamonds in the rough (Terry types).

He claims to be versed in analytics. My hope is that he looks the basic ones at the very least and concludes “holy shit, the only reason we’re not Chicago and San Jose is because we have the best goaltending duo in the league.”

But I’m about 50/50. The cynic in me actually tells me he’s coming back next year.

I mean these are all bottom 20, second round or even third round guys. Of course I want forward development in this organization to improve top to bottom but they were long shots/projects to begin with. I don't know that I'd call it bad drafting necessarily.

Coming from the guy whose only solution to the offense problem is just shoot the puck moah, I really f***ing doubt he's well versed in analytics.
