As of now the Kings have the second most points in the Western Conference, just 1 behind Vegas Golden Knights. If they make it back from this hellish tough road trip in good shape there is a decent chance they end up with the best record in the West. When was the last time that happened?

I’ll believe it when I see it….but the #clownshow around here would just tell you something like how it doesn’t matter because of how bad the west is this year.

As a practical matter it does matter quite a bit because of the importance of home ice.

Looking at his options given his body position: off the boards to Kempe - risky - guy is right there. chipping high off the glass not possible -- too close to the boards, lane to Kopi not really there.. the right move would be to loft it (which he did 30 secs prior) -- plenty of time and space for that..My guess is fatigue factors into what he did. Maybe, Kane left the Calif road trip and went to Chicago. Unlikely he will play tonight and even tomorrow might be iffy since he would have no real practice time if it is the Rangers that get him.

Good pic. My memory misremembered his positioning a bit (I thought he was pivoted more to the left). But the point remains that he had time and space for a softer lob or clear.

What about the non-defensively deficient Durzi getting beat on the outside(as he has been all season) by a defenseman at the end of his shift? Allowing him to go end to end and allowing a centre feed on his back hand?
What's your holier than thou explanation that that was a-okay and not proof once again that Durzi is in fact defensively deficient?

Durzi took a direct angle trying to seal him off on the boards while the guy skated around him leaving Durzi playing catchup on the play. Totally unnecessary and lacking in defensive acumen of staying between the player and the net.

As much as I’d like to believe Doughty is fatigued, the way he plays so nonchalant has to do with more of an old timer who’s gotten to comfortable with giving 50 percent

I think there's some rightful concern about 'how' right now

The big picture lately is VERY nice--5-1-1 since the break! hard to be "mad" about that--yet we're in a position where the problems are still the problems and evaporating lead syndrome has seeped back into their game.

So we're getting RESULTS absolutely, but I don't think anyone would feel confident rolling into a playoff series right now, which is where the real focus is at this point, IE playoff teams aren't going to let them off the hook, like the Devils who ended up winning a game they never led.

People had a visceral reaction before the Kings won. And we're discussing why the play upset and bothered some people. Because, again, this happened before the Kings won. And giving up a lead the previous nights was resonating with people.
