With Durzi, it doesn't matter whether he's LD or RD. He's not very good at containing the opposition.
He doesnt seal well -ie take the correct angle to cut a guy off from a puck and hold him there. And he's not strong enough to body guys. I just watch what Mikey does and compare to Durzi - and its a completely different world of defensive IQ.

It is easier to keep inside position on your strong stick side. Here is my question. Durzi is weak defensively so why make it harder on him by playing him on the weak side? Why not Roy?

Ive asked that myself.. He's defensively challenged, still learning the pro game, and then you put him on his wrong side and on the PK.. none of it makes sense to me either. Edit: came up with a theory - its a showcase that he's a 2nd pair and can play both right and left side.. up his trade value. Thats all i can think of.

Dumb question from somebody who doesn't watch many Kings games (great win BTW).. who are the post game announcers/hosts?

Thank God the other teams call timeouts to give our guys a break.

Cant blame Roy on that goal but Durzi simply could not have possibly played that any worse. I want to love the guy but need to accept hes always going to be porous defensively.
He;s improved but still a work in progress and a liability but a little less often.
He will be easier to shelter on 3rd pair and deploy on pp, when Blake gets a 2Ld.
He has a flow first stride/adjustment.
No where near the physical ability to play d like guys like Anderson.
After he gets free and and away from pressure is when he is at his best.
Thats why they LDed him. He has the skill to make a play when he can escape the initial pressure.
No way the Kings can afford to give up his offense though.
He is doing it in the NHL. not expected to do it in the future after being trusted by Tmac.
Earlier in the year he looked like he needed to pay for Mact's blood pressure medication.
Gotta keep working on his D and hope that keeps improving.

Play by play is the sophomoric Alex Faust

He has great offensive instincts - makes nice long passes to hit guys in stride (except the Vegas game). But he is clearly a guy you shelter with a Roy-like left handed guy on the THIRD PAIRING... everything else is hopium. Edit: this site is annoying the way it joins posts - what are they saving on disk space?

Durzi just needs to go. His occasional offense output is far outweighed by his defensive lapses.
Durzi played a major role in getting us what should have been a win last night but got a point.
Blake should have scrounged up a LHD by now.
I think he is getting strung along by at least one other GM.

Lol you can read this entire thread and see who has actually played vs who hasn't....

Doughty play with 20 sec left those who haven't played can't understand what happened. Those who have played understand that was the better of two shit options, and there was no freaking way he was risking a pass in his own zone vs a definite clear....

Thats just one that stand out of many

Professional players can chip the puck off the boards and not ice the puck. Especially with two teammates available for a breakout. Icing the puck, especially when you can't call a timeout (the Kings were fortunate that the Islanders did) was a very bad decision.

The Kings really did play a good game overall.

I thought LA's forward depth really showed.

1-1-1 on the trip so far. 2 of the 3 games LA was the better team, and in the other game they still should've won.

They did play well, missed some chances and hit 2 post. Quick was good and played the way we all hope he can for his 3rd straight win. Now about the officiating...wtf was that in the 3rd? Only the Boston game did I see more holding and trips let go. I was was shocked at the one Kopitar drew.

Hes a 2nd year pro. He's better than last year and continues to get better, flaws and all. I bet when they finally have him on his right side things will get even better.
He's not a second-year pro, he's a fourth-year pro. He has never had defensive smarts going back to his days in junior. That's not something you can learn over time. You either have it or you don't.
