Also note....Kings currently with 7 players with double digit goals.

Lizotte, Moore, Iafallo and Roy all on the cusp....

Wondering when the last time Kings had 11 players scoring at least 10 goals in a season happened.

If they are serious about the playoffs this year, then the FO needs to have a talk with Quick and his injury status. He's not regaining anything. If we were still tanking, then he'd be perfect and you'd let him play things out on the retirement last hooray trip. But we're past that phase now. It's time...it's over.
Try Cal as the backup for 1-2 games to see if he can be decent as the backup option and not lose games by himself-- if he fails, then make a trade for a solid backup to finish out the year.

Was at the game and thought the same thing- if anything happens to Copley this season is toast.

Interesting take, but will never happen. Quick isn’t going to just roll over and take a backseat…and the org isn’t going to ever present that idea to him based on all he’s done and what he means to the Kings. This isn’t Xbox.

The biggest problem with Quick is he doesn't play enough, closely followed by age. Traditionally he's been shit when he's not the starter getting most of the games in a year. Really this has been happening for a few years now, last year was an anomaly, I think that was his last hurrah. It started a bit ago when Campbell was here, you could start seeing him get outplayed by him and Peterson. I think the shoulder surgery helped a bit before last season too, but it's just all caught up with him.

Obviously starting him steadily to see what happens is not an option, so yeah, a tough choice has to be made. It's a shame about Petersen, because he was pretty damn good until he signed that contract. He was .916 up to then. Not against giving him another shot right now, he's putting up the best AHL numbers of his career.

There is no tough choice…we will live or die with Copley/Quick for the rest of the season. After that, Quick will be done.

If the owners want some revenue from an extra playoff round or two it may be smart to carry 3 goalies and just one spare forward. Nothing fancy just someone cheap and serviceable. Lemieux and a pick for Korpisalo or Grundstrom straight across hockey trade.

If Quick plays enough Kings will be out of playoff race already.

Hi style of play combined with his size and diminished athleticism makes him very bad goalie now.

What's the Kings record in games this year when they get Replacement Level goaltending?

Kings are currently 1 point out of 1st in the Western Conference despite the goaltending issues.

When I first checked, it was literally undefeated, lol

I think now it's something like only 2-3 losses

can review later if someone beats me to it, but Copley's record as such is telling

That's why I keep saying if you add Saros we're practically invincible, imagine having near .920 goaltending instead of .900, or even if you split the differnece and he's 'only' .910 here, that's a large order of magnitude difference over the course of a season

Saros would be a huge add but cant see Blake making a move like that until the offseason.
Its just such a rare opportunity this year to let slip away. There is a clear path to win the west now that may not present itself again.
You dont wanna necessarily throw the future away and handicap the team down the road but if they can fill in their holes right now they can do damage.
Curious to see how Blake handles such a moment.

Normally I wouldn't expect Blake to look at something like this, but with where they are positioned it changes things. It's not just the s% and the GAA either, it's the good goalie factor. We've seen it with Quick before where the other teams feel like they have to pick corners and make fantastic plays or shots to beat him. A top goalie adds that extra element.

Saros is in virtually the same contract situation as Chychrun. Two years left after this one at 5M per.

So he should be worth the same amount in a trade, while being much more impactful for LA.

Problem is Preds are in the playoff race. If he's traded, I think it won't be until the off season.

One this is for sure: forget LHD, forget Center, Kings needs a goalie otherwise this whole season could be a waste.

And Doughty has 4 years left after this year! That contract is not going to be an albatross very soon
Doughty isn't an issue. Kopi & Arvidsson are up next year. Cal can be bought out next year if not resolved by then. Having Doughty as the 1 big contract won't be a big deal, unless Blake goes crazy & signs a bunch of guys.

LOL love it....everyone is in a panic about Quick.......they see 5 goals, and automatically think he should have stopped all 5 of them....

I'm not saying Quick has been good, he hasn't, but when the only f***ing analysis is brought is.....see Kings won despite Quick, he let in 5 goals, he sucks, it just tells me that the boneheads making those observations either don't watch the games, or don't understand what they were watching,

For Christ sake, the 1st goal, we had some f***ing clowns in here swearing up and down that "that was typical Quick, always out of position, always a bad rebound" etc...

Out of the 5, 2 he should have had, and even then one of those would have been 50/50.....but let's ignore context....

The Preds aren't really in the race all that much, but they may still think they are. They have one of the tougher remaining schedules in the west. They really can't afford to lose to Minny today, if they do they are 7 points back with 2 games in hand, down one in RWs.

The thing is they have fairly easy games until the deadline, so they may hang around for a bit. Their last month is brutal.

TOI from last night- not the balance we saw the other night in Anaheim but the OT PP skews the #s a bit. Odd to put Lemiuex in the lineup just to give him 7 minutes of TOI. Overall balance still amazing and Kings can on most nights roll 4 lines.

It feels like every time Lemieux is in the lineup he plays in the first period, hardly any in the second, and none in the third. There is no reason he should ever be in the the lineup over JAD or especially Kaliyev, not sure why they'd wanna take away PP2's best weapon for no reason than to put in a guy who usually just takes dumb penalties, adds nothing else, and then is benched for most of the game.

Last night wasnt his fault but he looks shaky out there. Like everyone in the building puckers up whenever there is a shot on goal and he knows it and feels it also. Hope he has one last run in him though.

Yeah, not every goal was his fault but man he was shaky and crazy out of position sometimes. They didn't score on every bad play he made, but there were a few times when he was 5 feet out of the crease and the net was wide open. I think he's struggling, I also think the D plays different when he's in net, I also think other teams play different when he's in net as well. Whichever is the chicken or the egg doesn't really matter, fact is when Quick is in net the team has a higher chance of losing. Maybe these two wins can get some confidence back, he's only a few months removed from an awesome playoffs, but if not then they'll be putting all their hopes onto Copley and pray he doesn't get hurt.
