This search sounds like they're not looking for someone to run hockey ops, but the Flyers organization as a whole, as more of an administrator. That is, a President who's not a GM with an inflated title.

We’re talking the Team President hire (sort of seals the deal on Briere as GM) being assisted by one of the worst NBA GMs in recent history. Who, you’ll never guess, has Philadelphia ties. Forget Tulsky, King probably couldn’t tell you what state the Hurricanes play in.

Is this worse than Dave Scott proudly saying the team hired a self-confirming consulting firm for their head coach? I think it is. Does this team think it’s on the cutting edge — like Fenway Sports Group? Cross-sport dabbling? I believe a prerequisite for that is not being cataclysmically awful at your original sport……

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. It’s almost incomprehensible how one of the largest conglomerates in the world is this incompetent (or is it?). There’s not a megalomaniac owner or a 3rd generation owner with a Habsburg jaw and a drool bucket. Comcast, a faceless enterprise, has no reason/excuse to not be cutthroat with how they treat a billion dollar business investment.

Not sure where to put this but this interview with Dan H pretty much confirms that things will be the same shit with different suits:
