Flyers aren’t going anywhere next season, so might as well hang on to him [Deangelo]for his last contract year, hope he has a big offensive season with the contract motivation, & then trade him as a deadline rental as he may have some value.

I am in favor of keeping him because I anticipate a literal fist fight next year between him and Torts. It’s gunn be good

See I agree, I don't think he will be trash, but it does worry me that he won't live up to a top 5 type of player, which was my big thing with him in the draft, I think he's a good player, but not so much a potential difference maker, and I know this may sound harsh, but the kid isn't cut out (no pun intended) to be a center, doesn't have the defensive iq or instincts, and he's looked pretty bad at center, he's definitely a winger

But just look at what magic TORTS has done with Cates!

Mission Accomplished

Foerster - 8 games at 16:34
Desnoyers - 4 games at 13:22
Attard - 1 game at 16:45
Ginning - 1 game at 16:40

Revolving door confirmed. Up for a few, then right back down

32 players suited up for the Flyers this season. I count 13 who will probably never do it again:

Hodgson
Cates, J
Willman
Lemieux
Sedlak
Bellows
Brown
MacEwen
Braun
JVR
DeAngelo
Hayes
Prororov

How many coaches did they use?

I agree that he's probably not a singular gamebreaker, but I actually disagree with that assessment of his intelligence. Only watched 7-8 BC games this year but I thought he showed some pretty good smarts on the ice.

He's super-cognizant of situations, he'll tie up a puck at the top of the opposing zone to get his linemates a change and actually had a couple assists where he was able to sucker two defenders into a board battle and then kick it out to teammates just coming on the ice for a 2-on-1. Always makes good changes, times them well to keep O-zone pressure but get fresh legs. Don't think I've ever seen him over-commit up front, and he's more than happy to come back to tie up a stick (not sure he's the first to block a shot, though, TORTS). Even shows pretty good discipline, in an early game with Providence that was dirty all around, he was the dude hauling teammates out of the gatherings to get the PP rather than an extra punch.

He's a cocky bastard, too, and that's cool. Interested to see how he plays next year.
His offensive instincts are really good no question about that, for me it's when he doesn't have the puck and he's in the neutral zone or his own zone, he's a big time floater, he skates around just hoping to catch a breakout, his defensive game is pretty non existent

That’s what I saw too. Float city. Which is why it’s very dumb that they’re forcing him to play at Center. He plays well at wing. I don’t see why he has to be a Center. Round peg, meet square hole.

IDK what there is to the Hayes going to Columbus for Roslovic rumor but the Blue Jackets thread here is kicking it around as well. Perhaps it's got legs after all.
Doesn't compute, Roslovic has one year left at $4M. Even if Voracek is LTIR next year, that's $8M for one year - so CBJ would be on the hook for the last two years of his deal.

I mean I'd be happy to take Roslovic back, but there would be other details in such a deal given the unbalanced contracts.

Perhaps taking back Gudbranson as well is part of the mix. CBJ isn’t too high on either Roslovic or Gudbranson. The Flyers clear Hayes; CBJ clears those two guys. Might work

Don't worry, we will retain 2 million....making him cost more than Hayes next year.

Fwiw, CBus fans expect us to retain AND give them a pick...based on comments in their forums.

12 out of the 18 forwards on the 17-18 Flyers team are done in the NHL. Morin, Patrick and Voracek all suffered career ending injuries.

Hayes with $3,142,857 retained + 4th to CBJ for Roslovic. Provorov for a pick. Cheap, one year deals for the RFAs to keep things simple. Ellis on IR - not LTIR because they are well under the salary cap with a 22 man roster. No team wanted DeAngelo.
