Out of curiosity, I decided to check out how the team is doing defensively at 5v5 compared to last season.
After all, the casuals and shills are swearing that the team is significantly better than last year. Torts has whipped them into shape, instilled accountability, improved effort, and forced players to play the right way.
Imagine my surprise...
At 5v5... 2021-2022 2022-2023 (48 games) Shot attempts against
(per 60)60.73 60.58 Expected goals against
(per 60)2.72 2.74 High Danger attempts against
(per 60)11.97 12.82
He's getting the full year. They aren't in any hurry to improve.
Fletcher has been hiding all year. You barely see him or hear from him. They are gonna run with the narrative that injuries and bad luck caused all the issues and then Dave Scott is gonna come out at some point at the end of the year and say Chuck deserves another chance.
Over/Under if the select fans big question is how they can improve in the shootout
Doesn't matter, these people are gonna want answers to the hard hitting questionsOnly having one shootout so far this year is a blessing.
GA/60 isn't plus minus. It measures how many goals the team concedes per hour when that player is on the ice in 5 on 5 situations. 5on5 numbers take out shorthanded & empty net goals conceded, and Ristolainen isn't on the ice for attacking situations like powerplays and 6 on 5 because his offense has gone to total shit. The fact that the team concedes more goals against 3rd and 4th liners during Risto's minutes than they do against the top 6 forwards Provorov and Sanheim primarily play against, shows what a disaster his $25,500,000 contract is.Why do you keep quoting +/-? GF/GA is just +/- in a different format. Is that a valid measure of play?
Ghost is -7, Risto is -4, so guess Fletcher made the right move?

At 5v5 their shot attempts for/60, expected goals for/60, actual goals scored/60, and high danger attempts for/60 are all almost identical.Anything stand out to you offensively for metrics/analytics?

Depends who you ask.Is it good process to let critical decisions for your organization at an existential level hinge on the whims of a few games here and there?
I cannot imagine, with how checked out the fans are and the dismal state of things, having Fletcher running deadline shit at minimum. Losers.
Okay but take out the first 25 games.
