We were told here that Sedlak being used as a top 9 center, over prospects, was a positive long-term development. Re-signing him was brought up. Okay, so he took his ball and went home, so that was all pointless.

Braun is now in the scratch rotation, when we were told that he would net a 3rd round pick again and that's why he was playing over York/Zamula. Hayes, on an indisputably good and necessary and movable contract (maybe to Colorado?!), was only moved to wing so he could help the offense more.

Is it possible all this twisting reasoning was just BS?
What prospect was Sedlak playing over? The only prospect at center (Laczynski) got injured (again). Unless you mean Brooks?
Desnoyers is certainly not ready for prime-time, I like him, but he needs a lot more AHL time.

I mean are you one of the people whining about Cates at center? And that's b/c they're short on centers.
So it's Brown or Anisimov at 4C until and if Laczynski gets healthy.

Wait, Torts doesn't use merit, but York comes back and is in the top four, while TDA, Risto, Seeler and Braun fight over 3 spots.
Braun has been decent, but at his age it won't hurt to take a few games off.
Seeler has been solid, but in a limited, sheltered role, as you'd expect from a #6/#7.
TDA and Risto are having extended auditions, b/c that's what this season is about.
And no, Zamula didn't show much when he was up, nor in LHV, still a work in progress.
Attard to me is more interesting, but another work in progress.

Kev 100% called in a favor, after he white knighted for Yandle after his scratch last season.

You ever hear Myterus talk about Tortorella? He sounds like how a Branch Davidian would sound talking about David Koresh. I feel like that guy will definitely be rustled.
The last thing I heard from him was him saying that he couldn’t talk about 21st century Hockey topics because he’s an employee of the Flyers.

Pretty obviously Laczynski was not ahead of Sedlak on the depth chart before injury. And yes, chiefly him. But you're forgetting Sedlak was averaging more 5v5 ice time than Frost through the first 15 games. And he's been a regular 2nd unit PKer as well. All that to peace before Christmas with absolutely nothing gained short or long term, as the Flyers do.

I looked at it, nothing outrageous like a Seguin or Benn buyout, but not great.

At 50% retained what would the Flyers want for Hayes?

It‘s not outrageous but retainjng $3.5M for 3 years + assets is better than buying him out and having a 6 year cap hit. Two of the early buyout years would have a higher cap hit than 50% retention.

Even a Chuck special where he sends Hayes away at 50% for nothing is better than a buyout.

It's just bananas to me to think about how much they've marketed this guy, the GM made him his marquee move of his whole tenure, we're lectured endlessly how valuable he is on and off the ice, his whole friend crew was assembled to complete the collection......and then John Tortorella has an emperor has no clothes moment with Hayes -- not that I even disagree with the pointlessness of sinking his value on a team that will suck for 6/7 years of this contract -- and it makes the organization look even more incompetent. Clean. House.
