I think Torts is more interested in moving out certain veterans.

They already moved out MacEwen and Brown, Deslauriers gets the least ice time though his contract may require waiting another year (think he'd waive the NTC for a playoff team), Braun, JVR, Bellows are gone, Hayes is a good bet to be traded.

Lemieux is on an extended tryout, I think they like his speed and physical play, he's more talented offensively than most of the 4th line players the last decade, his style fits on the 4th line, but he has to cut out the stupidity.

There's also players he likes who may be traded b/c of their age and value, TK, Laughton come to mind.
Not sure how he feels about Provorov, but he's probably on the trade block.
I'd bet Torts is disappointed in Sanheim, not b/c of defense, but b/c an offensive defensemen who doesn't produce offense is kinda useless.
TDA is probably unmoveable so they're try to rehab him, Risto may not be moveable for another season.

If they have a scrap of attachment to Lemieux then we should save a lot of time and annoyance and fire this regime tonight.

Kinda disappointed a bit for the Flyers this season. Something isn't right with the actual mixt.

Gonna be interesting with the high draft pick this summer and how Briere will evaluate the players. What could happen with Carter Hart??

Ryan Ellis carreer could be over? Or there is a good chance we will see him in the Flyers jersey someday?

You'll have to ask @Appleyard about that comparison.

I wish he was. Similar frames but he wont be close to Timonen. He is more "skilled" than Kimmo but very few have the IQ Kimmo had.

I think Andrae, if he hits high end of development, will be a good #3 who QBs a PP and gets ~40 points a season while being solid on D.

Most likely over. It's a shame as when healthy he would have easily been the best 2-way D they had. Really underrated the effect that would have on the D core.

It would have been huge not only for actual team results, but youngster progression just to have Ellis, Couts, Cam, around more, on the bench, making plays with them, etc.

(It was a joke referencing these ridiculous tweets)

The Hostage obsesses about size as much as someone else we know. It’s no coincidence that like ingredients, he lists the most prominent first.

About time. Ownership is problem one with this shitshow.

This organization badly needs to have Timonen come on board.

I would not at all be unhappy if Kimmo came aboard as an adviser.

See thats the thing. There is nothing wrong with having ties to an organization, as long as the person isn't a delusional dumbass.

I believe Kimmo was quoted as calling for a rebuild way before anyone even dared to whisper the phrase in the Flyer organization. He has been vocal about their faults, at least if my memory is correct.

I actually don't have an issue if the Flyer want to try to remain one of the more physical teams in the league. That's entertaining, and the sport imo has gotten a little too vanilla in recent years. I enjoy the skill, believe the organization needs high end talent, but have no qualms with them trying to remain true to their roots somewhat. Just has to be done right, and certain things have to be prioritized.

The "Flyer way" has simply been the primary focus for too long, and that is indeed a mistake. It's my long held belief that players can be taught to increase their effort level, or compete level. Talent however, is there or its not. The Flyers far too often draft/cater to players with the former attributes, and hope they can develop their skills. It's ass backwards.

There is a lot of talk about advisors, but Dave Brown/Samuelsson/McCauley need to be shot into the moon. You can't expect a whole lot of positive change keeping those departments status quo.

They fell in love with slow physical players.

But Allison, Tippett can skate and hit, one reason I think Lemieux deserves a long look, I don't mind less skilled players on the 4th line, but they have to be able to bring it on the forecheck.

B/c of cap and draft restraints (only so much money, so many picks) your roster ends up a mixture, a couple elite players, some skilled "smurfs", some middle six guys, some 4th line types. I just would prefer the middle six guys mix size, speed and skill (much like TB's have), and the 4th line guys can skate and at least bring energy and be able to harass top opposing lines if they can't score.

If your third and fourth lines can skate and pressure, and score off turnovers, that's about as good as you can do given cap constraints (if your 9th forward scores 20+ goals, he's going to be another team's 6th forward in a year or two).

But no more skill less slugs on the fourth line, or turnstiles on the third pair!

100%. Ed Snider knew that "the Flyer way" was "leverage our advantages to win games" as the primary element, with the secondary element being "one of those advantages is beating the hell out of people."

Too many of the people who have done the work since think "the Flyer way" is "beat the hell out of people, and somehow that will win us games."

I'd like to see some people in charge who know we need to get back to that first model.

Completely lost the plot. They've fully forgotten that you win by outplaying your opponents, and they're obsessed with the extracurriculars.

Boreanaz is a buffoon. Trust me, if you guys knew him you wouldn’t want him anywhere near this team.

His {Tippett] 6.5 Goals Above Replacement mark by Evolving-Hockey’s model ranks him second among Philadelphia forwards, trailing only Noah Cates.

In terms of his impact on even strength chance creation, Tippett is in the 72nd percentile among NHL forwards, but by chance prevention, he’s way down in the 21st percentile. Tortorella’s continued emphasis on Tippett improving his decision-making — both with and without the puck — is justified.

Tippett has struggled at finishing around the net, as the below chart from HockeyViz shows. Note how from distance — his devastating wrist shot — Tippett overperforms the league average, but from in close — theoretically, the easier place to score — he significantly underperforms.

“I want him bringing pucks to the net,” Tortorella said. “I want to see the power part of it. Is he going to be a guy that sits on the outside and relies on that shot? Or is he gonna bring another dimension to where he’s gonna be a handful bringing the puck to the net?”

His friendship with Morgan Frost goes back to their OHL days and has only grown stronger as they’ve become full-time teammates. He’s close with Joel Farabee as well and lives down the street from Laughton in the summer.

Trying (and failing miserably) to not to read too hard between the lines here, but that's a lot of miles to travel for a dinner. Taking the tags into account....if this is part of the change I'm all for it. This organization needs its passion and fire back. If you can't get that with Kimmo and Foppa, and a die hard fan like David....then might as well stop looking.

If I were to guess next year's lineup:

Atkinson - Couts - TK
Farabee - Frost - Tippett
Lycksell - Cates - Foerster
Deslauriers - Desnoyers - Allison
Laczynski

York - TDA
Sanheim - Risto
Zamula - Attard
Seeler

JVR, Braun, Bellows, Lemieux FA
Hayes, Provorov, Laughton traded

TDA traded at the TDL, Andrae comes up
Risto, Deslauriers traded next summer

Gauthier is the wildcard
Gauthier, and Bedard/Fantilli!
