His {Tippett] 6.5 Goals Above Replacement mark by Evolving-Hockey’s model ranks him second among Philadelphia forwards, trailing only Noah Cates.

In terms of his impact on even strength chance creation, Tippett is in the 72nd percentile among NHL forwards, but by chance prevention, he’s way down in the 21st percentile. Tortorella’s continued emphasis on Tippett improving his decision-making — both with and without the puck — is justified.

Tippett has struggled at finishing around the net, as the below chart from HockeyViz shows. Note how from distance — his devastating wrist shot — Tippett overperforms the league average, but from in close — theoretically, the easier place to score — he significantly underperforms.

“I want him bringing pucks to the net,” Tortorella said. “I want to see the power part of it. Is he going to be a guy that sits on the outside and relies on that shot? Or is he gonna bring another dimension to where he’s gonna be a handful bringing the puck to the net?”

His friendship with Morgan Frost goes back to their OHL days and has only grown stronger as they’ve become full-time teammates. He’s close with Joel Farabee as well and lives down the street from Laughton in the summer.

Andrea York 5th pick Farrabe Tippet Koneckny

I would trade the rest of the team.

One could hope, that would certainly accelerate the rebuild.

This is the year for Couturier to be out and hopefully luck into a #1/#2 pick. Knowing the Flyers it'll be Nolan Patrick 2.0.

I'd be curious to see how they approach things if that happens.

I've gotten the impression from a number of his comments that Torts didn't realize how dysfunctional the organization was until he was here for a few months and could see it from the inside. And it wouldn't surprise me if he's been talking with Briere for a while about changes they would like to make.

Not that it really matters, but Torts said he's not sure if TK will play again this season and that Couturier is closer to returning than TK.

He did have critical comments about the prior medical staff again:

This isn't surprising at all. Their clear attitudes toward injuries and how they were observed handling them was always atrocious.

There is so much dead flesh that needs to be cut away for the team to thrive. Tortorella is part of the dead flesh but he doesn't know it yet.

I wonder who he wants in the 5th round, too. I didnt realize this draft was THAT deep to be looking forward to the 5th, but im certainly no draft expert.
They say this draft is deep indeed.

You'll get a high end talent in the first 10th picks.

seeing the Flyers rebuilding their offense with top talents like Lafrenière, Marner or Zegras would be a major turn around for this organisation, been a time since.

Ypu can expect to keep waiting, too. There's a reason you haven't seen the Flyers have a talent like that - and it's not because they haven't had the top picks to try.

If the best we get out of the rebuild is a Lafreniere or Zegras level player, then that would not be a major turnaround. Just more of the same.

It will take some time to develop him. I expect he'll be close to McKinnon. Maybe less offensive. Lafrenière have a high IQ hockey though he's really intelligent on the ice, physically when he's fully develop, youll see him take the next step. He could be one of the best.
Holy crap , Mckinnon . Laf has good hockey IQ but his tool belt is no where near Macs'

Flyers are putting a stable of good shooters together, which bodes well for the PP down the road.
Tippett, Foerster, Gauthier, Attard. TK if he stays.
Now if they could just get some players who could get these guys pucks in prime sniper spots.

Frost, York have that potential, but up and down. TDA has to make a big jump on defense.
Brink has to get 100% and show he can skate at a NHL level, otherwise he'll become the next Marody, a great AHL scorer who can't skate well enough for the NHL.
