I doubt it has anything to do with the game.
Talking about jumping to conclusions with insufficient data!
Who is jumping to any conclusions here?

The man left his assistant coach out to dry by disappearing. Shaw could have simply said that “he’s spending time with close friends while in town” or “dealing with a personal matter.” He didn’t say that.

It’s not a good look and to get upset when questioned about it makes him look like the child that he is.

Is there ANYTHING that this organization does that you won’t defend?

Is there anything you don't blow up into a cause celebre?

I mean this wasn't that big of game, and losing it wasn't a big deal, the team played well but made some bad mistakes.
So until the evidence points otherwise, I don't think his behavior had to do with the game itself.
If there was anything about the game that would cause Torts to avoid the media, it would have been the refs, and maybe the desire to avoid a fine if he spoke his mind.

No one said it had anything to do with the game. Could it? Sure and that would just make it worse.

The head coach randomly disappearing and leaving his assistant out to dry and then getting snappy when asked about it is childish. It’s pathetic from a grown man.

Edit:

Great guy that Torts is.

It's strange how the current scoring breaks the team into tiers

And people think the team looks better…

This chart says it’s Torts and his defense right ??

It was his return to his old team and the guy he shunned lit them up. If there was ever a game for him to face the music , this was it.

He’s a spoiled old brat.

I doubt that had anything to do with him avoiding the media.

Wins and losses just don't mean that much to him this season, he's rebuilding and has been explicit about that.
And the Flyers clearly out played CBJ, so there's nothing embarrassing there.

And the reason he didn't want JG had nothing to do with his assessment of JG's talent, this is a guy who coached St. Louis, but that the timing wasn't right if it's a 3-4 year rebuild. They need to clear out contracts to 30+ year old players, not add them right now.

The Blue Jackets had four defensemen…
Wait, when the Flyers win when Harts stops the other team it's luck, but when the FLyers lose when they swarm the other team they suck?

Or maybe over the course of a season these things even out? Isn't that what everyone's been saying about this good start.

I predicted a week ago the team would get better, even up the xGF numbers but lose more games. The last three games are a good sign, but it'll probably take another month before they play consistent hockey.

So I don't really care about the wins and losses (other that competitive games are good for player development) but how they play the game. We know the Flyers will struggle to score, but if they're controlling the puck on a regular basis, eventually they'll add players who can score (whether it's getting Couts back next year or adding Gauthier and Foerster and Brink).

Torts already shirked the most basic of responsibility during the pre-season when he decided he wasn't going to coach the first 3 games because he didn't feel like it. Now he's skipping out on post game pressers, again, because he doesn't feel like doing it.That's his thing. Doesn't feel like doing things a head coach is supposed to? Then he doesn't do them.

This is the same man who would print the practice times on a piece of paper and post it on a door in a hotel, and have this be the only way he told his players in Vancouver the practice times. He's a lazy POS who constantly can't be bothered to do the bare minimum.

Why are you arguing, are you saying Columbus didn't go down to only 4 defencemen during this game?

Don’t act like we are surprised. Everyone knows this guy is a dick with the media. Always been that way

Given that most "reporters" are dicks, I wouldn't have much patience with their inane questions.
How many people covering the Flyers know their ass from a hole in the ground?
I don't think a single one of the Flyers reporters qualify as dicks sans the occasional Sielski appearance.

It's his job. He is paid to be cordial with them. He has failed at that because he has the temper of a child.

You've spoken to him personally?

Despite it all coming to fruition, I actually do like MacEwen.

He isn't the guy we need, he sucks at most of what he does, but from what I've seen in the last several games I can tell that the passion is at least there. I can appreciate the effort even if a better player should be in his spot.

By that alone he's infinitely better than our dipshit management group.

He shouldn’t see more than 8 min a game if anything. But I want this team to lose, so give him more ice time. f*** it
