I'm OK if last night was the last time Nic Deslauriers ever takes a shift on the PK.

He's been out there for 2 goals already in just 2:31.
"There was a pretty aggressive market for him," Fletcher said. "Players like Nic Deslauriers are hard to find. He's a guy that we like. We think he moves well, he forechecks well. He's a player that has a pretty good understanding of the defensive side of the game. He can kill penalties, which we believe he'll be able to do for us."

Once Atkinson returns you'll get your wish.
They're going for more speed from the forwards on the PK.
Farabee, Cates, Laughton and TK are your four top PK forwards.
But realistically, we're still in "audition mode," it's just that Torts has a quick hook.

Is Cuck talking about McDavid or Deslauiries there?

Looks like Laczynski is likely going down after claiming the trash player.

Also, this quote is as embarrassing as it gets. All those "Torts isn't a dinosaur" arguments took mere days to be destroyed.

"Size and all" f*** you.

Also keep in mind he's crying that he hasn't been noticeable enough when he's buried him with sub-NHL players for most games. Still no accountability for any of them though. Not a peep from the coach. Only praise.

Deslauriers: "Uh, coach, I'll hit you in duh head!"

MacEwen: "I'll hit you harder!"

*Torts' fetishizing intensifies*

Torts is going to give Sedlak a try b/c he knows Tort's scheme and philosophy. If he has legs, he plays this season.
But don't bet on him being here next year unless he added an offensive game in the KHL to his repertoire.

I know what Torts is saying about Laczynski, to me he's been an invisible man so far.
He's better off in LHV than playing 8 minutes a night every other game in the NHL.
J Cates has shown more, and they're the same age.

The lines have been shuffled every game, and will continue to be shuffled.
Some of this is just getting a feel for what players can do, some of this is chemistry.
Farabee, for example, has shown flashes but may need another week or two to get back his NHL legs.
TK is their most explosive offensive player, but has been mistake prone, Laughton and JVR the most reliable.
N Cates playing center just adds to his value, even if his future is LW.

Good news is JVR is off to the kind of start that could make him a hot commodity at the TDL with 50% retained, like 1st rd plus quality.
And Braun is looking solid, though if they don't limit his minutes he could be cooked by March.

Sedlak isn't an NHL player. The youth movement was never going to happen. Without injuries there'd be even fewer prospects/youth on the team. All the fantasies about how Tortorella is a forward thinking development mastermind were proven to be mere fantasies in a week.

Fun fact, the chief reason he played so much youth in CBJ wasn't because Tortorella is such a modern genius coach, it's because that's what he was given to work with. Here with Fletcher he will get any and all washed up dead fish veterans he could ever desire. Don't forget they're certainly working hard to get Anisimov on the roster too.

Wasn't he just on a NHL roster?
We have no idea, he'll come here, if he can't play he'll soon be gone.
What was the name of that forward in camp that everyone seemed convinced they'd sign, who was cut a week later?

I don't know where some people got the idea that Torts was going to flood the lineup with prospects this year. He didn't do that in CBJ or TB, worked the kids in over a two year period and moved the veterans out.

Buffalo followed that "play the prospects" plan, then after they stunk, went out and overpaid for some veterans, then . . .

I cannot fathom a team trading a 1st, let alone a 1st+, to rent JVR for the playoffs.

A 2nd rd pick would be a nice surprise.

If he's got 20+ goals and 40+ points, he'll garner a 1st.
You're talking instant fix for an ailing powerplay and a guy who can play on your 2nd line.
What did Giroux garner last season? 57g 18-24 42 points going into the TDL.

TDL rentals are about what you can give me the last 20 games and the playoffs, not your career performance or what you might do in the future.
Toffoli garnered a 1st rd pick, year before, Foligno a 1st and 4th, Kase a 1st, Zucker a 1st, Coleman a 1st and Foote.

He was on an NHL roster long enough for a team far better at player evaluation to decide he's not an NHL player. Or do three games trump years out of the league?

You claim all these guys will be gone. I can't wait to see how you justify it when they aren't. According to your own predictions detailed in your Tortorella fantasies, the roster is presently filled with players you adamantly claimed wouldn't be here.

Wish I could have your optimism on JVR's potential deadline value, but I'll believe it when I see it. Obviously, I hope you are right.
