Someone's agent has a mouthpiece.
It's The French Connection, only this part you don't want to see, they casted Steven Seagal in the main role. What a bullshit article. Comtois is the most bizarrely beloved lazy loser in hockey history. Why is the narrative that he's being mistreated? Lavoie ought to watch some Ducks games before accusing the team of mistreating a player.
Crazy... I would have been happy to add by eating a contract like Zaitsev for a shot at another power forward like Ostapachuk, or other more developed prospect. A late 2nd round pick isn't going to do much when we already have 3.FWIW, Verbeek was supposedly asking for a second round pick for him (article's in French):

I don't know how much to believe that, considering what he eventually settled on for Klingberg, but then it wasn't as urgent and it does seem like we hear about his unreasonable asking prices fairly often. May also be possible that the difficulty of offloading Klingberg ran him out of time to make a more realistic deal on Comtois? Though with how early the deadline deals started this year that raises its own concerns.
Can't the team elect for arbitration to get his number back down without qualifying him? That being said. If Eakins is back then I don't see him coming back..Comtois qualified at his number isn't moveable and if they pull the qualifier and he can sign anywhere he won't be signing here. Should have just moved him for whatever we could have gotten.
Any RFA who isn't tendered a qualifying offer becomes unrestricted as steel and Milano did last season. Can't the team elect for arbitration to get his number back down without qualifying him? That being said. If Eakins is back then I don't see him coming back..
He didn't even notice that his productivity came BECAUSE of the shift in role, i.e. Eakins finally figured out what to do with him, which was to spot him in games where his ponderous foot speed wasn't a hindrance. He gets reps with good players. He should be thanking the team for making chicken soup out of chicken shit instead of complaining about ice time he hasn't earned in years. It's pretty clear that the Ducks and Comtois are parting ways. I would not take the position taken by BM that if a players goes to arbitration that player is gone. I thought that approach was stupid beyond belief. The team and player were only arguing over money. Having a player have this sort of article put out indicates that the player wants out, and I would accommodate him. It's not like Comtois has been at all valuable either last year or this season. A player with a bad attitude needs to go.
Just did a search and a looks like the team can elect not to qualify and take him to arbitration instead. If I read it right the new deal has to be at least 85% of their last years salary. That's still 2.1 mill. He could also take a cheaper deal if he's concerned about opportunities.Any RFA who isn't tendered a qualifying offer becomes unrestricted as steel and Milano did last season.
And the number is the number at this point, it can't be adjusted. It's based off of previous contract numbers.

It's a summary of comments by Renaud Lavoie. Was the author someone from Crash the Pond? Sicard was upset the Comtois was a healthy scratch recently on twitter.
I've been harder than most on Eakins and I've even defended Comtois in the past but I don't know how you can say hes being mistreated at this point. Dude puts in zero effort at all times. A coach can't just ignore that. What a bullshit article. Comtois is the most bizarrely beloved lazy loser in hockey history. Why is the narrative that he's being mistreated? I wouldn't mind seeing the goalies rotated for each of these seven remaining games. Just so happens to work out to still giving Gibson the tougher games if that's important, and gives him that final game at home which just seems right.

Its unfortunate becuase with effort... his skill set woulda been very good along side some of our better forwards and going forward.I've been harder than most on Eakins and I've even defended Comtois in the past but I don't know how you can say hes being mistreated at this point. Not as clever as the bear, but good to see they haven't let the season affect their sense of humor. Best was probably Jones.
The fact that Terry still jumped a little even after knowing something funny was going on was pretty good too. "Sorry for my profanity."
He wasn't holding back just because the cameras were around. That's something you gotta love about the kid.You can tell Z is from NY, with the F bombs. Lol.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being an effective player somewhere. Just seems to lost interest in the ducks. Its unfortunate becuase with effort... his skill set woulda been very good along side some of our better forwards and going forward.
Maybe Comtois + Bos 2nd, and see how far we can move up with that /shrug... im sure a few teams would take a chance on him
