Yo
@Hockey Duckie have to ask you for a favor. Can you post a spread sheet of Fowler with Kulikov vs his other partners. I’m curious to know, think that pairing has been very good, and Fowler has also looked good.
Fowler is going to be a critical stop gap until Minty and/or Zell are ready.
These stats are from
Natural Stat Trick.
Fowler | Pairing | ES | Shots | Comp

Key:
Corsi For Percentage (CF%): The total of Corsi For shot attempts divided by the total of Corsi For shot attempts and Corsi Against shot attempts. A player percentage over 50% indicates his team is generating more shot attempts than the opposition when the player is on the ice
This is the totality of the pairings at Even Strength. It doesn't show the trend of improvement. It'll take some time to find the trend as I'll have to comb through the desert of line combinations for 23 games.
This table is about shot comparisons. Shot metrics are used as portray possession metrics.
Based upon the totality, White is Fowler's best partner with respect to Corsi For %, but it's such a small sample. Playing with Benoit means one of these players are playing on their off-side and you can tell it's not a proper solution. Fowler-Drysdale should never be a pair, it's much worse than Fowler-Klingberg.
I think Kulikov has finally found his groove and is able to play RD, despite being an LD. Combine that with Fowler's limiting PK time, then there's a lot of factors that makes this line good.
The kicker is Shatty is Fowler's most productive partner.
Fowler | Pairing | ES | Goals | Comp

Control | Partner | GP | TOI | xGF | xGA | xGoals For % | . | GF | GA | GD | GF% |
Fowler | White | 12 | 19:36 | 0.74 | 0.86 | 63.16 | | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.0 |
Fowler | Strand | 5 | 8:48 | 0.20 | 0.21 | 33.33 | | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.0 |
Fowler | Beaulieu | 12 | 8:49 | 0.64 | 0.14 | 77.78 | | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.0 |
Fowler | Klingberg | 20 | 133:06 | 6.82 | 10.92 | 42.86 | | 3 | 7 | -4 | 30.0 |
Fowler | Drysdale | 8 | 62:58 | 2.86 | 4.09 | 41.89 | | 1 | 2 | -1 | 33.3 |
Fowler | Benoit | 19 | 71:25 | 1.38 | 4.36 | 30.23 | | 0 | 4 | -4 | 0.0 |
Fowler | Kulikov | 23 | 122:40 | 5.39 | 5.88 | 48.85 | | 6 | 6 | 0 | 50.0 |
Fowler | Shattenkirk | 19 | 13:06 | 2.60 | 2.14 | 54.95 | | 4 | 1 | 3 | 80.0 |
Now, we're looking at goal productions instead of shots. Shots show possession, but goals ultimately determine wins and losses. We're going to exclude White, Strand, and Beaulieu due to such a small sample.
At this point, Fowler-Kulikov makes us break even at Even Strength play. Again, this is a total summary and not a trend breakdown.
From what I gather, Benoit and Fowler cannot play the opposite side very well.
Fowler-Klingberg should never be a pair unless forced to be a pair.
Fowler-Drysdale probably isn't a great pairing b/c neither are shutdown types.
Fowler-Kulikov break even as a pair.
Fowler-Shatty is very underrated by the fans.
You know who else is underrated? Colton White.
I looked at Shatty's partners and there's a significant reason why Vaaks was rushed up the NHL club once he got one game in San Diego... Beaulieu is a bad, bad man pairing with Shatty.
