If JG signs here and we get rid of JVR, we'll go from JG as 1st line LW to Laughton 2nd line LW to.....Cates?

That's what I call depth.
Cates showed me a lot last spring, he was disappointing in college after shining in the WJC-20 and as a leader of a national championship team, but Minn-Duluth's HC makes Hakstol look like an offense first coach. Watching him in the NHL, you could see where he was stifled in college.

He skated better than advertised, has a high IQ, and while no skill stands out, he's pretty solid at everything.
Similar to Lindblom before he got cancer.

I have no problem at all with Cates - Frost - Tippett as our 3rd line, I think they could be outstanding as a high energy line with some skill.

The two other guys who got the same operation were back playing in three months.
If Farabee takes to the end of October, that's four months, and he'll only miss 6 games.

A Glass of Milk
Montgomery, Cty, PA.

Weird thing about the DC area, big tornadoes in both Maryland and Virginia when I lived there, bigger than anything that hit around Austin, Texas (southern end of tornado alley) when I spent decades there.

Never thought of that region as a big storm area.
Maryland's not but oddly Howard County and Columbia keep getting hit with small tornadoes. It's weird.

Storms like to explode over the Shenandoah. Virginia and Maryland get whacked pretty hard by storms.

I feel like Frost would do well on Coots wing. Two high IQ guys.

Frost-Coots-Tippett
Gaudreau-Hayes-Atkinson
Cates-Laughton-Tk
Lacynski-Brown-Allison

Maybe coots can get the most out of those two...then maybe the "bro line" can have chemistry. Tk and laughton play well together.

Grasping at straws here. All i know is take JG out of that and it falls apart real quick.

That Couturier line...wtf man? If you sign JG, you stick him on his wing 100%

I'll go with Mark's Duck House.

I miss Arlington. I live in the culinary desert that is Eastern Montgomery county. I hope to escape some day.
Ben and Irvs Deli has fallen pretty hard as of late, but it’s still good.

Supposedly JG (or his wife) does not like NYC, which means NJ is the only competition.
Newark is too close to NYC, but he could live SW and both have a nice mansion and be a two hour drive from family.

This written in context of Gaudreau.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around Bill's "proceed with caution" stance (I'll ignore his defense fetish, while the Flyers are assembling the shittiest defensive players possible). The Flyers have dug a hole halfway to China with term for 30+ contracts or for mediocre players or injured players or all of the above. They've traded high picks like drunken sailors, including future ones. Proceed with caution?......this franchise is Evil Knievel. I can understand not wanting Gaudreau and wanting this whole sunk fallacy thing torn down, but then I'm told campfire tales of the Rebuild Boogie Man. Treading water, after buying expensive scuba gear, is not a path.

How do Chuck Fletcher and the dunce brigade internally justify giving up more assets or handing out more big money contracts if it's not for Gaudreau? Jersey is scarily in play. Even if they want to take this "proceed with caution" path, then how do they explain the trove of assets already given up going all the way to 2024? I think we might actually have aneurysms listening to their closed door discussions.

His wife is smart, NYC is overrated. It will be funny if Chuck screwed us out of the chance to get the best free agent who wanted to come here in a long time. Also sad because I never liked JVR or Hayes’s contracts, and JG is someone I’d happily pay. Plus all the other dumb contracts they’ve signed.

This might be the one thing to get everyone to turn on the organization…exemplifies the complete lack of direction.

He could have made a ton of money in Calgary where he was loved......he's coming home anything else makes zero sense imo....just pray Fletch doesn't do a horrible trade to clear space.... that and what salary he wants are the key questions imo.....
