This sounds more and more like the rumor posted above, that Fletcher wants to rebuild but is being blocked by Clarke and Holmgren, may have some legs. This is why Fletcher isn't rushing to trade a 1st rd pick to clear JVR, why he's moving 2nd and 3rd rd picks, trying to limit the damage from the "bias for action" mandate - same thing he did in the summer of 2019. That summer he managed to satisfy the mandate but only gave up a net 3rd rd pick, regaining the 2nd in the draft, and Gudas. Last summer, the pressure was on to give AV what he thought he needed to win. This summer, the pressure is on again, another "name" HC, another push to the playoffs.

Beef says Fletcher is in control, I don't believe it for a minute. These moves feel like decisions being made by committee, a lot of "camels." As far as Fletcher resigning, uh, these jobs are hard to find, this could be his last real payday in his life - I'd hang on as long as I could in his situation - because those houses by the golf course are expensive.

Nothing is going to change until they fire Scott and bring in someone with real sports management experience and expertise. It doesn't even have to be a Hockey guy, just someone who does his homework, identifies the best available hockey people with 21st century mindsets and give them carte blanche to build a team for the long run. Only then will moves be made that are coherent.

What we see right now are a series of reactive moves, try this to make the playoffs, it didn't work, dump those players and add others, that didn't work . . . the lack of coherence tells me no one is in charge.

Fletcher did build Minnesota into a winner, made a couple initial mistakes but built through the draft. Then his owner started pushing to win now leading to a serious of TDL trades that leaked talent. We've just seen exactly the same thing with Zito in Florida, trading their top picks the next three seasons to get blown out in the 2nd round. Sakic isn't brilliant, he's just lucky to have a FO that allowed him to keep his job after deep sixing a 112 point team to 48 points in three years and patiently build it back up again. He's made some good moves, but the best was having the right owner.

Seriously. It must be amazing living in such a fantasy.

If this was case, then why would Fletcher not resign?

His reputation is going down tubes while he is the "Victim" and being "Forced" into these moves according to your viewpoint

Looks like you're doing everything you can to defend Fletcher

And when you add up assets, he trades away its thinning out Flyer's future piece by piece even if he holds onto a couple of 1sts

And since he traded a 1st for Ristolainen that would sorta show our "He doesn't want to trade 1st's" argument to be well wrong

Because what are the odds he'll ever get a well paid, senior position again?
They are few and far between, and without a SC final at least on his resume, he's a longshot ever to get one.
So I'd hang on even in a bad situation and bank as much money as I can, then end up as a senior advisor, but that's not exactly a lucrative position.

"The guy with the 2nd most power in the organization, holding down THREE titles, wants to do the right thing but 2 guys below him in the company depth chart won't let him."

Therefore the only thing Chuck can do, is make bad decisions after bad decision.

But man, if he was allowed to do what he wanted, the great decisions would be flowing!

dead, if all you’re trying to communicate at this point is that Charles Fletcher is a spineless little bitch, then yes, we’ve known that for a while.

Gaudreau hitting the open market & still not signing with the Flyers would be hilarious.

it will turn the tide of the media, and authentics, especially because Cuck will double down on stupidity and sign a Kadri or Kane to an insane bloated contract.

Bill and Charlie questioning. John H to NJD and Comcast might just fire Chuck Thursday. 🤞

This is usually the sign of the end. But will Briere be any different? I 100% believe Fletcher knows he should rebuild but he’s told otherwise and is bad at making moves anyway. It explains their lack of direction. They are getting input from Clarke ruining the team.

Trade JVR if you have to, but it better be pretty cheap.

If anyone of those four are here beyond this season, more disaster awaits.
You think Scott, Clarke and Holmgren would approve a rebuild?

They’re all complicit. They’re all part of this confederacy of dunces. One just so happens to be making all the day to day decisions.

Deady, you sound like the wife of a convicted murderer trying to deny and rationalize.

BS, total BS

Fletcher is the top guy in the hockey dept, case closed. He can make whatever moves he wants and if Clarke and Co don’t like it, they can ask Scott to fire Cuck. He gets paid in full if terminated.

Your trolling is just pathetic at this point

Damn, sounds like he’s shitty at his job if you asked me and in no way shape or form worthy of pages and pages of defense.

Titles don't mean shit in organizations, companies hand out VP titles like candy, for example.
What matters is final authority, only Scott has it, and whomever has Scott's ear has as much influence as Fletcher or more.

He’s coming home.

It's only about money when the player's ego is built around money.

When you factor in taxes and agent fees, it's more like 60% of $84M or $70M - but if he and his wife don't like Calgary, I mean it sounds like a lot of money, but $42M after taxes and fees, on top of what he's already made, plus endorsements - if you can't be happy on that living where you want to live, near family, you're a very f---ked up human being.
