If JG wants to come here , I don’t want him. He’s admitting to be a loser that is only chasing money.

Flyers aren’t making the playoffs for at least 3 years.
I mean if he only cared about money he would have stayed in Calgary...

It's more likely he doesn't care as much about winning and wanted to be at home.

Good GMs are constantly maneuvering to anticipate points of cap flexibility. They don’t sign players too early like Farabee. They move players at the deadline like Laughton and Ristolainen, who have value, but aren’t worth it long term. They never put themselves in a position where their moves are telegraphed and can be used against them.

I'm trying to test something and I don't want to screw it up. Does this look about right? The actual lines/pairs/positions don't matter, just the players listed. Assume a straight JVR for Gaudreau swap, please. I'm aware it's not that simple. Do it anyway.

Konecny - Couturier - Gaudreau
Farabee - Hayes - Atkinson
Tippett - Frost - N. Cates
MacEwen - Laughton - Allison
????

Provorov - Ellis
Sanheim - Ristolainen
York - DeAngelo
Seeler - Attard

Lots of GMs sign players like Farabee early to good deals. Hextall did it with Couturier.

TDA > Ghost and it's not even close when it comes to generating offense:

Ghost had a fluke season in Zona.
pp/60, xGF/60 (5x5)
2015-16: 1.20, 2.30
2016-17: 0.49, 2.42
2017-18: 1.06, 2.28
2018-19: 0.91, 2.30
2019-21: 0.66, 2.23
2021-22: 1.35, 2.25

TDA
2018-19: 1.09, 2.57
2019-20: 1.74, 2.68
2021-22: 1.50, 3.27

Anyone with access to the internet could know that JG was going to be available this offseason. They have had potentially years to set up a cap situation to accommodate him. They have never behaved like they had any interest in him until recently.

It's just atrocious management. Fletcher has no plan. He doesn't think ahead in the slightest. While we are at it, what the f*** does Hanrahan do? How many disastrous cap decisions has he overseen? That's supposed to be his thing. Is he ignored by the three GMs he's somehow survived, or is he as incompetent as everyone the Cronies love?

If he hits UFA NJ would probably be the best fit financially & team wise. They can probably put a higher price tag on the table than the Flyers & Islanders can. They don’t have to move cap out right now to make an offer like the other two. Most of their core is U25 as well opposed the other teams who are on the older side.

This is a below average roster. Assets well spent.

Chuck always gets his man though.

As @FLYguy3911 mentioned though getting TDA may have been a recruiting tactic with Gaudreau since they're friends.

And it all comes back to Hayes somehow.

But we are meant to believe that's just an absolute coincidence and they haven't inexplicably identified him as the key to the team and decided to build around him.

Flyers aren’t making the playoffs for at least 3 years.

He’s coming for the chance to be closer to home, family, and perhaps not wanting to live in Alberta for the next 8 years. Essentially lifestyle.

It’s sure as shit nothing to do with wanting to win, I’ll lmao when he tries to sell people on this somehow being a team he wants to win a cup with. He’s dumber than a bag of rocks if he thinks they have a chance in hell with these contracts. Him struggling to put up points in Philly would make me laugh so hard after he signs a mega deal.

He has produced in the neighborhood of that pace whenever he's healthy and used correctly. That's why few of the non-Authentics are remotely surprised he put up 51 even on a terrible Arizona team.
When was the last time he was a 50+ point dman? Pace, another phantom stat.

What is more important, actual points or pace points?

Ratcliffe/??? - Laughton - Allison
Brown, MacEwen

Provorov - Ellis

Corrected. Can't see MacEwen on the left side, Gaudreau has a history with Hayes and the point of the trade is to field two top lines.
Ratcliffe will get a shot in camp at 4LW, the other LH options would be Willman or Desnoyers.
Though you could go Laughton at LW and Laczynski at center.

My bet is Ellis doesn't play this season or they never would have traded for TDA, they factored in his LTIR when they made that move - and since it's only two years, if Ellis visits Lourdes and can come back in a year or two, they'll have some flexibilty.

Attard will play ahead of Seeler, probably Zamula as well, both averaged a much higher TOI at the end of the season.
