He wasn't. He had some of the best defensive results on the team. He drove transition. The team was noticeably worse when they foolishly benched him. He managed to drag Hagg around while doing it.

Ghost can actually retrieve a puck himself and then move it up ice. TDA needs someone to get the puck for him. Provorov isn't that guy anymore, and he needs York, Sanheim can do it but that would leave Risto unmitigated.

You yourself admitted it's an overpay. An overpay for a player who is best in a situation we c as nt realistically provide and at that cap hit is a terrible move. It makes no sense.
Wasn't an overpay and stated the contract was in line. I said a good GM probably gets him a little less

How many points did Ghost put up in his most recent Flyers season when he was traded?
What does that have to do with the fact that he put up 50 points on a worse team last season? If you're saying Ghost wasn't a 50 point player here, neither is DeAngelo.

Imagine getting TDA, buying out Oskar, giving up a big asset to get rid of JVR and then not ending up with JG.
I'm honestly hoping this happens. Full chaos.

no the pseudo rage for directed at multiple other post. Was a general statement.

5 million for what he has done and being 27 is not outrageous in any way. If his name wasn't Tony D most wouldn't say a word. As long as his offense overcomes his defense then no issue.
Man, if only...what a statement

They could still almost surely make a hockey trade with JVR still, especially for someone with term. They could have done the same with Ghost but it’s not what they wanted.
No, they couldn't. They put him on waivers, no takers. They offered him to Seattle, who wanted York to take his contract.
Ghost, like Voracek, had negative trade value. Because of cost and term.

JVR, with only 1 year, should be moveable with money retained, but no one wants to pay him $7M.

Sounds like the whole league knows they can wait to victimize Chuck for a profit.

They always find the path to extracting the least juice. If your answer to this is that no one could have seen this coming, then you're directly saying they have no idea what they're doing from one year to the next. These cap situations are known. They can talk to teams and judge the interest on their players.
Yes, that's been the pattern since Holmgren became GM. Which is why I think he, not Clarke, is the loudest voice in Scott's ear.
This lurching from year to year, trying to stay competitive, is vintage Holmgren.
Except he can't buy out his mistakes anymore or use Snider's cash to force poor teams to give him prime players for cheap.

Firing Fletcher won't change anything - you need to exile Holmgren and Clarke and get a modern hockey guy in charge, who'll implement a long-term coherent strategy.
