If we miss out on JG there’s almost no chance that we don’t spend that money on lesser talent.

I’m not sure what’s better in the long term.

I'm rooting for the worst-case scenarios for the long-term because the sooner they play all their cards and are stuck for years with a crap roster then the sooner they're going to be forced to properly build the team.

2026 target date for committing to having a new organizational direction. hopefully, the team has been sold

Yes, that's been the pattern since Holmgren became GM. Which is why I think he, not Clarke, is the loudest voice in Scott's ear.
This lurching from year to year, trying to stay competitive, is vintage Holmgren.
Except he can't buy out his mistakes anymore or use Snider's cash to force poor teams to give him prime players for cheap.

Firing Fletcher won't change anything - you need to exile Holmgren and Clarke and get a modern hockey guy in charge, who'll implement a long-term coherent strategy.

I'd guess 2026 is the earliest they'll hire someone with a good long-term strategy (assuming Comcast has sold)

Realistically, 2030 is probably a good date to hope for.

but then again, if Comast never sells the team then it will be the same cycle over and over.

So, let's hope they trade all their upcoming firsts in order to clear cap space, its the quickest route to the absolute bottom, which is the only hope.

Tony D is going to struggle defensively away from Carolina. Probably more than Ghost did in his last season in Philly.
Don’t disagree. Although I don’t think We are done redoing our defense yet.

But Ghost regressed massively in Arizona. He was given free reign to rove and his poor partner was hung out to dry constantly. From a defensive perspective he was almost as bad as Yandle.

Fletcher was making terrible contract and cap decisions before he was associated with Holmgren. Before he was associated with Homer, he treated draft picks as pointless and made bunches of pointless moves while bleeding value. It's who Fletcher is. He doesn't need Holmgren to be this. This is why so many of us were alarmed by his hiring.

Or was Holmgren calling the shots for Minnesota too?

Who are the non-Authentics?

HF fans that hate the team and want them to lose every game?

non-authentics are people like me who have better things to do than watch/support a team destined for perpetual mediocrity...... too many other things I can do in my life and too many other things more important than sports to waste my time with garbage that has no championship potential.

maybe when I was ten years old, it would be worth following, not as an adult

New York spent the previous seasons sitting back accumulating cap space before they signed Panarin. They got Fox & got an extreme outcome on him ending up one of the best defensemen & almost immediately at that.

Beyond that they slogged their way to the conference finals off the back of Shesterkin having the best regular & post season by goalie in the analytic era. That’s a team probably prime for regression back to the middle next year which usually happens to these outlier/Cinderella types.

I want to build a legitimate contender with some sustaining power. I’m tired of being in no man’s land waiting on a miracle to happen.
