Who cares? That’s not a good enough reason to sign him for 7 years and further restrict any future movement or signings. The only good reason that I see, is that it ensures Cuck can’t possibly do anything even dumber at that point. Though he’s always surprising us with that.
Anything that can restrict the Flyers from making stupid signings in the future is good.

The Flyers are going to be doing a real rebuild soon either by choice or forced upon them by the fans. Gaudreau’s caphit will be a minor issue during that time.

Can't imagine Meltzer taking this stance so adamantly unless the waters are being tested or there is dissension among the ranks, i.e. Fletcher chafing at the futile "win now" mandate and trying to get a reality check into the media.
you have no shame

all because of lindblom like seriously? we are a top 5 lottery team and you want to keep everyone that doesnt do anything. if you are top 5 lottery team, no one is safe, tk, lindbom, jvr, provy, sanheim all need to go.

What a minute. You lose it when people want to haul out any players, and now you lose it over not hauling out players? And then list a major chunk of the roster?

What happened to not stripping it down to the studs? Because that's exactly what you're calling for.

If Gaudreau is available and wants to come to Philly you find a way to sign him. Same as the Rags did with Panarin. Elite talent is not available very often.

Now if you hadn't already thrown $25.5m down the drain extending Ristolainen, that would make it a lot easier.
Giroux was an elite talent at one point. Doesnt matter when the majority of the team is crap. He will be wasted here. He will become an instant scapegoat by the end of year 2. It will be another contract they need to shed in x amount of years.

Would also question JG desire to win for willingly wanting to come here to this rudderless ship.

a 27 year old RHD in his prime after back to back 50+ point seaons > 3 draft picks. See the pseudo rage for Tony D still strong.

This reasoning was used to justify signing Ristolainen. You're ignoring the defensive side of the game, where he does a ton to cancel his offense.

A dman who has to be carried as hard as Slavin carried him isn't worth that haul or that contract, especially because our only dman who can carry him is already chained to Risto.

So being skeptical of a number 4 defenseman being paid 5 million who isn't good in his own end is pseudo rage? Got it. Helps he played with one of the best defensemen in the league last year
no the pseudo rage for directed at multiple other post. Was a general statement.

5 million for what he has done and being 27 is not outrageous in any way. If his name wasn't Tony D most wouldn't say a word. As long as his offense overcomes his defense then no issue.

By the time tomorrow is done, they're likely no longer able to strip things down anyway.

4 more years of Hayes
5 more years of Risto
5 more years of Ellis
8 more years of Couturier, but he should be tradeable.
Sanheim will be heading to UFA and have limited trade value.
4 more years of Laughton who may or may not be tradeable without retention.
3 more years of Atkinson.
5+ more years of the big free agency signing.

The credit cards are hitting their max unless the coming cap increases are significant.

Asking for a friend, would you consider this to be good management?

I could care less about the personal things with Deangelo and I don't even know what he did other than support trump and question the phony Covid/big pharma narrative. I'm not a politician worshipper but I won't vote for any liberals so I guess that makes me a racist and a facist too.

So, I hate the Deangelo move solely based on hockey and wasting assets and the philosophy of winning now that goes with it.
2 thing are in play. I agree the win now way is a total joke and just beyond dumb

No once you except that the Flyers are trying to "compete" this is a good move. He isn't some 30+ slug on the way down.

Not remotely all because of Lindblom, this is just the latest thing that's pissing me off. We've had years of Fletcher f***ing this team up to get me to this point.

Yes, they all need to go. Everyone you rattled off, plus Couturier, are on my sympathy list. Maybe a few others. Send them somewhere they can succeed, load this team up with garbage, get the front office fired, and let's see what happens when we have new blood in charge. Maybe then we can get the current steaming dumpster fire cleaned up and get a worthwhile team again.
