Dude knows he has orders from Roberto Clarquez and co to aggressively pursue Gaudreau at all costs, knowing that he's already crunched for cap space, knowing he'll have to move out assets to dump JVR, so the first thing he does in the offseason is dump three more assets and $5 million in space at TDA. So now he has to buy out a fan and locker room favorite that showed the last half of the year he can still contribute in a bottom 6 role.

Of course that's ignoring the additional $5.1m he dumped on Risto a few months ago.

You can't make this shit up, lol.

personally, I think Clarke and Holmgren as senior advisors have played a key role in the overall vision and I bet Fletcher runs everything by them.

But, I do agree Fletcher is executing everything and he's in accord with the overall vision. So, I'm not exonerating his incompetence in any fashion.

For example, I think all of them were full-on board with going for Riso and Clarkie and Homer were probably up his ass about it. But, Fletcher was 100% keen on the idea and execution.

F it. No point anymore in trying to like this team; give me all the dumb assholes in the league instead. Free everyone who we might have even the tiniest shred of sympathy for, let them have success elsewhere. Absolutely ruin this team, so that Comcast will have no choice but to go scorched earth in the FO or dump the team to the highest bidder.

If Gaudreau is available and wants to come to Philly you find a way to sign him. Same as the Rags did with Panarin. Elite talent is not available very often.

Now if you hadn't already thrown $25.5m down the drain extending Ristolainen, that would make it a lot easier.

We don't have the roster or assets or cap space to build around him, so it makes no real sense. And literally almost every major franchise player in the league is coming up for UFA in the next 4 years. I'm sure they all won't make it to market but at least one or two of them will. It's a moonshot but that's what we're down to at this point.

Can't imagine Meltzer taking this stance so adamantly unless the waters are being tested or there is dissension among the ranks, i.e. Fletcher chafing at the futile "win now" mandate and trying to get a reality check into the media.

Fletcher has always been this guy. He has never done a rebuild in his life. It's pure fantasy that he's secretly a rebuilding GM who is competent. He holds all power. He could just fire the advisors if he disagreed with them.

Friedman writes that Arizona, Seattle, and Buffalo are linked to JVR. Also notes the signing bonus. JVR is $4m in base salary next year

Or another 5 mill signing one of the most well-known goofballs in the NHL aka DeAngelo

Don’t blame Cuck. He literally can’t plan further ahead than his daily morning styrofoam cup of coffee with Metamucil.

Or Meltzer just personally likes Lindblom.

Who cares? That’s not a good enough reason to sign him for 7 years and further restrict any future movement or signings. The only good reason that I see, is that it ensures Cuck can’t possibly do anything even dumber at that point. Though he’s always surprising us with that.

I knew about Fedetov being held in Russia for military service but I didn’t realize he was basically arrested and has been sent to the Artic for “training”.
Yikes!

What does this mean "The Flyers have also been considering another move, although they could go in several directions"

Is that talking about JvR or something different?

A good GM could move him pretty easily. A bad one who the entire league knows is desperately trying to save his job and already has a reputation for overpaying in deals is going to get taken to the cleaners.

The great thing is that the Flyers are doing/will be doing exactly what you want.

And over the next 5 seasons, we'll see exactly how smart you are.

The first part is probably JVR.

The only other realistic single player move that gets you somewhere in the neighborhood probably is Provorov. I'd love to see the sell unbelievably low trade that he'd do with Ivan in this cap crunch. Stuff of legend.
