Of course, Fletcher could throw curveball and trade away someone like Provorov which would make no sense to me, but I believe you guys threw it out there as possibility this offseason about a month ago

Was that legit concern or just a "Well Fletcher is terrible and it's what an idiot would do" type of stuff?

Some of us have been interested in a Provorov trade for years simply because his trade value outstripped his play, so it could always be that hope is involved.

But there have been rumors from reasonable sources. There have also been specifics out there. For example, despite being absolutely terrible at it, he's not been taken off of PP1 because he couldn't mentally handle it. People weren't willing to go public with it before this year and as you can see, they leak like a sieve.

I assume JVR trade has to happen today to give Flyers flexibility to be player for JG or anyone else in FA

I don’t think he has to be traded today to do it, but if he is they clearly think this is happening. It’ll probably actually be tomorrow because he has a signing bonus to be paid out.

Not surprised that a Lindblom buyout looks likely. I hope they re-sign him at $1m afterwards.

I don't think it will be that hard. Just buying out Lindblom opens up $3.333m.

It's kind of funny getting mad at Fletcher for buying out Lindblom when Fletcher it was Good Guy Chuck who gave Oskar a 3 year, $9,000,000 deal in July 2020 when there was no guarantee he would be an effective hockey player again.

With the buyout Lindblom will have made $6.33m from two years of playing hockey after his recovery. And he's free to sign a new deal with any team including the Flyers.

The “some people” is probably his agency telling him that so they get a higher cut of the deal. No problem with that but 1 day before free agency you are this far already…. When does his extension period run out for that 8th year?

CBA said:
(iv) An SPC with a term of greater than seven (7) years, provided, however, that a Club may sign a Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8) years if that Player was on such Club’s Reserve List as of and since the most recent Trade Deadline. With respect to potential Unrestricted Free Agents only, the ability to re-sign a Player to an SPC of eight (8) years expires when the Player becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent. With respect to a Player who becomes a Group 2 Restricted Free Agent, a Club may sign such Player to an SPC with a term of up to eight (8) years provided such Player was on such Club’s Reserve List and/or Restricted Free Agent List as of and since the most recent Trade Deadline.

This is my view; that and the fact that Lindblom is a marginal player at this juncture.

Dude knows he has orders from Roberto Clarquez and co to aggressively pursue Gaudreau at all costs, knowing that he's already crunched for cap space, knowing he'll have to move out assets to dump JVR, so the first thing he does in the offseason is dump three more assets and $5 million in space at TDA. So now he has to buy out a fan and locker room favorite that showed the last half of the year he can still contribute in a bottom 6 role.

Of course that's ignoring the additional $5.1m he dumped on Risto a few months ago.

You can't make this shit up, lol.

There is no need to buy out Oskar (though I’m happy he’s getting away from this shitgarbage franchise)
There is no need to move JVR until the deadline
There is no need to sign any UFAs

Roll with what you got and use your inevitable top 10, possibly top 5, pick. No matter what moves they make, 6th in the division, 11th in the East and 21st in the league is the best they can hope for unless a miracle occurs.

Better to just stay the course, move the expiring contracts at the deadline, and finish 7th or 8th in the division, 13-16 in the East and in the 25-30 spot in the league.

Go take a vacation Cuck and leave your phone at home.

Can't imagine Meltzer taking this stance so adamantly unless the waters are being tested or there is dissension among the ranks, i.e. Fletcher chafing at the futile "win now" mandate and trying to get a reality check into the media.

ok, you're still going to insist upon this fantasy.

Fletcher wouldn't have wasted 3 draft picks on Deangelo if Fletcher was anti "win now
