I discussed this with the Fletcher-led Flyers near total blind spot for passing and transition play, in terms of (mis)assessing needs and fit, but bigger picture: what players has he acquired (sans Ellis and Niskanen) who you'd say improve the play of their teammates -- amateur and pro level? That can function outside a narrow usage band? That drive possession? That don't need specific linemates -- like a Couturier or Sanheim -- to make them useful or even just playable? These aren't just stop gap players -- they're mid and long term signings, 1st round picks, etc. All players need some help, but we're talking toggles between functional and non-functional, and specific players who are the toggles aren't even prioritized.

One has argued that tippets speed helped frost get more space. Not saying they would be correct. But that’s closest I think you can get.

Not even Hayes improves the players around him.

Alright, I know it’s an ask and a half but could someone mock up fletchers moves, picks and players? Hell I might get around to it in an hour of so.
I did all of Hextall's....not a chance I do Fletch.

I think we trade Sanheim because Trav won't sign long term.
Trade JVR + 1st from Fla for a 3rd to AZ
Buyout Lindblom
Sign Johnny, some depth C and D

I feel like this is the most fletcher move And I don’t think it’s a smart one.

I think guys like Tippett are sort of the gold standard in being narrow band players who need other players to be productive. And he's not even productive.

I’m just so sick and tired of this roller coaster. This is for sure the worst position we have been in in a decade or two. Hexy came in and tried a rebuild by doing it the right way via the draf. We didn’t hit home with some of them obviously and the ones we did haven’t been able to take us further/have declines a lot lately.

Now, we are in cap hell, have no assets really, a terrible farm, consistently trade high 2nd round picks, and no identity/sense of direction. All this is going to do is start the inevitable rebuild again once we get a new gm. On and on this rolller coaster will go.

What roller coaster? This is the Tower of Terror in free fall.

From what I've read/heard - two likely moves: 1. Trading JvR 2. Moving Lindblom or waiving him to see if they can sneak his contract away....if those things happen, I think this is where we are at next week.

I have no idea how we can afford Gaudreau. No idea what move they make to get cap compliant if Ellis can't go. Being 10% over the salary cap doesn't really do anything if you are big fish hunting.

Puzzling

While Tony DeAngelo cost is terrible and looks even worse as you do the asset management arithmetic of how we went from Gostisbehere, to negative 19 draft picks to TDA and Fisto and no cap space, I feel like the worst is yet to come. Chuck Fletcher will deal the 23 1st round pick for nothing. I just feel it.

I guess you could send down Brown and Seeler, and then you'd be pretty much in the range of being 10% over the salary cap if you get Johnny at 9.5M annually...

Ellis situation is really a disaster. It kills any creativity
