Again..not a real rumor. Made up by clowns on Facebook. Please distinguish.
A real rumor? Haha that’s an oxymoron. Unless they are getting info leaked to them by a GM, which has its own biases, there is no real rumor. Or at least a very small % of real rumors in the end. I don’t see why a GM won’t leak a proposal to Facebook if they wanted to test it.

I’m sure this is an echoed sentiment, but I’m currently terrified to be a Flyers fan. Debrincat? That’s who we’re are gonna throw a giant package at? Alex Debrincat? Don’t we have a poor man’s Debrincat in TK? And Johnny Hockey? Really? 9-10 million? Please for the love of god, DO NOTHING. Give us another full year to see what we have in the young guys. Please.
Sure, this is the smart thing to do, but it's not the Flyers way

I’d have to imagine Chicago would have accepted that by now if it was on the table.

But in general this is why it’s pointless of having a lame duck GM around. Fletcher’s playing with house money in terms of what to invest. He knows he’s not going to be around for whatever future fall out. So there’s no downside on his end to push all these chips in now.

The other people in the organization are just as stupid for letting it happen let alone agreeing with it because they’re so scared of a rebuild.
This x 100

If it was a good idea for the Rangers to sign Panarin to 7 x $11.642m, why would it be a bad idea to sign JG to 7 x $9m?

JVR 5th mid level prospect to Seattle for a 7th

TK for a mid 1st rd pick (16-25 range) plus something small depending on pick.

Barrie, Kassian, oilers 1st for Lindblom and mid rd pick

Leaves some cash for free agency.

Chuck is salivating.

Some of the hot takes:
1) Chuck is salivating to add "big bruisers."
2) Chuck is going to make a huge splash
3) Chuck is going to do this without consulting Torts

Flyers under Chuck haven't exactly added a bunch of big physical players, Risto and MacEwen. That's about it. Kevin Hayes is big in the same sense that Voracek is big, and basically replaced Jake in the size department. TB has added more size than Fletcher the last three seasons.

Chuck talks about 2019 as his template, 2nd and 3rd rd picks for a veteran D, a swap of veteran D, and signing a 2C. Not quite the same as trading/signing a premier player. If Ellis can't play, one candidate to pick up might be Schultz on the Pens on a one year deal, especially if they draft one of the RHDs and want to buy a year for them to mature.

Chuck has already said he's not making any NHL personnel moves without consulting Torts.
Torts doesn't have a history of lusting for veteran scrubs or bruisers.

His ideal forwards are a combination of quick, skilled players and two way physical players with a modicum of skill and good speed.
His D-men tend to be mobile and jump up on offense.

In Columbus, he had one big D-man in Savard, one big forward in Anderson who could skate.
He's already got Risto, he has Ratcliffe, Allison as big forwards.
TK, Atkinson, Brink as his undersized, skilled forwards.
Cates, Lindblom, Tippett fit his template of "support" wings.

No one seems to care what Chuck says except you. I will judge him by his actions not words. I guess every hockey insider has wrong info in what they have published recently.

He will consult Torts. Wont make any moves without consulting him first. Sorry that is laughable. Might as well fired him then and made Torts the GM.

Who said Chuck is salivating to add big bruisers? Hayes replaced Jake, how as they were teammates for 2 years.

Ellis is done and I have zero doubt the Flyers already know this to be true.

Cracks me you continually mention Ratcliffe and other longshots like they will be on the roster. Will you ever acknowledge this roster as it stands today is not very good. You preach this average at best depth.

Now here's one thing I'll say, to attempt to be an optimist:

If we got all of our players back totally healthy for a long period of time, we wouldn't be the train wreck we were last year. We'd be meh at best, but we wouldn't be basement dwellers. I think we could even be a borderline playoff team.

But I don't see it happening that way - so I guess it doesn't matter.

Just a reminder that every year there is all this hype going into the draft about potential big trades that are going to happen.

And every year, none of them happen.

Every team in the top 10 will make their pick, including chuck.

Why would you give Torts a 4x4 contract, then go out and get him players he doesn't want?

Fletcher got AV the players he asked for (not so much a specific player but a role, he wanted balanced pairs, Fletcher got RHDs, etc.)
And he got rid of the players AV wanted gone.

The same will happen with Torts, you either get your HC the team he wants or you get a new HC.

That's optimistic? That's actually worse-case scenario lol

I call it optimistic because I think a lot of people believe we're set to be a bottom dweller next year from a talent POV...but I think we're just wonderfully mediocre hammered by injuries.

I hate it but whatever, I wanted to attempt to say we at least have some talent even if they're being held by duct tape...I guess?

You are just very naïve imo. Torts is lucky to have a job as no one else was interested. IMO he will not rock the boat. If the GM has a chance to acquire an elite player he will do it no matter what the coach says.

So if JG wants to come here (agrees to a deal) and Torts say no. What do you think the outcome ends up being?

Fletcher got Av his players, how did that work out? So maybe he says to himself I will get who I want and up to the coach to adapt to fit them in.

There's nothing wrong with thinking this. It's possible - unlikely but possible.

I'm happy to hear that we aren't going to move the #5 pick for DeBrincat. I wonder if the asking price will go down? We'll see.
