Its kind of hilarious that theyre wanna go big but cant bc they signed Risto.

If they had Ristos cap space and an extra pick from the return of trading him at the deadline....getting AD and JG would be a little more possible.

Imagine if they had:
  • The prospect from last year's 1st
  • The 2nd in 2023
  • #36 overall this year
  • Ghost with 1 year left on his deal
  • 600K extra cap space (difference between Ghost & Risto's extended contract)

Instead of all of that, we have Rasmus Ristolanen for another 5 years

I don't know if I would do TK alone for Debrincat. Konecny plays both ends of the ice better than Debrincat does. Sure TK some brain dead stuff at times but he's had to go through some coaching that has never really tapped into his potential. I can see his career taking abut if he were to leave the Flyers. If he gets moved it should be for a decent return on it's own. Certainly it should be for a better player than Debrincat. Debrincat has had the luxury of being on the ice quite a bit with Kane which opens up opportunities for him that he'll never see in Philly.

I would say yes if Forsberg wasn't made of glass.

I mean, I want neither one considering where the team is at.

Forsberg has an injury history - but I for some reason can’t bring myself to believe in Gaudreau being worth a Matthews type of contract.

It’s a good example of why overlying on FA is a stupid plan, most don’t live up to it. My vibes are just more toward leaning Forsberg.

Exhibit #469 of the Flyers lacking any cohesive plan. Chuck Fletcher, to his core, believes hockey consists of two things: defense and shooting. He has no regard for anything in between, even in the face of contradiction. They have less than zero plans to contend, but even their plan to retool is laughably slapdash.

Everything about this 2022 draft screams to draft in quantity. But this man is simply allergic to draft picks. He always has been through his management career. In 12 (going 13) seasons split between teams, Fletcher has made more than 7 picks twice (a whopping 8 selections). And that was in 2009, when he inherited a team, and the other was when he picked 3 6th rounders in 2014. In 6/12 drafts, he has taken 6 or less. We can talk about the Flyers retool, but this is also who he is.

That Charlie O'Connor tweet reminds me of the famous Dril Tweet. No, you're don't have to hand it to them.

Fletcher's long history of success suggests this is good strategy 🤣

Pre-payroll Meltzer used to talk about how good and important Nick Grossmann was. If you think he likes Risto cause he’s paid to, you’re wrong. He did it for free.

I remember Grossman had a good and reliable (albeit short-ranged) first pass for breakouts which was quite beneficial. Which just vanished after Malkin brained him. After that he didn't really do much well.

And his overall speed wasn't good enough near the end to keep up with NHL teams. I didn't mind his D, but he definitely hit a wall in terms of being overall useful at the NHL level.

Oilers gaining some traction for Giroux from TSN

Just saw that from LeBrun it seems that Edmonton is interested for sure not sure how much Giroux would be for going that far from the east coast though.

Friedman said a few days ago that staying on the east coast is still very much a priority for Giroux.

Friedman mentioned Toronto as a better on ice opportunity if Giroux wanted to stay closer to Ottawa without actually going there. But he said Giroux would have to work around their cap issues though.

Giroux doesn't make sense for Toronto, they have plenty of high scoring forwards, but
Brodie (32), Muzzin (33), Giordano (39), Holl (31). Reilly and Lilijegren are about it.
Campbell struggled in the POs and is a UFA, Mzarek or Kallgren, you must be kidding.

rumor is that the flyers have made an offer

5 OA
2023 1st
Brink
Frost

For

DeBrincat

Terrible. That 2023 is going to be gold at this rate.

I’ve noticed that Fletcher gets enamored with stuff and has to have it. I can relate but there is a difference between a Frost at Wendy’s for me and the destruction of a franchise.

Again..not a credible rumor. Made up by clowns on Facebook. Please distinguish.
