I’m going to say that any of you that want to trade down are batshit crazy.

Giving the Flyers any chance to try to “outsmart” the rest of the league isn’t going to end well. They love to try to show they know best, and it’s about as successful as my chances with Kate Upton.

Make the pick at 5. Go home, and get Fletcher a better haircut.

I don't recall, but these are their SV percentages and games started in their two seasons together. I didn't include starts with Hart (44) & Jones (33) because I assumed everyone still remembered that they started roughly the same amount of games in the season that just finished.

15-16
Mason .918 (53)
Neuvirth.924 (29)

16-17
Mason .908 (54)
Neuvirth .891 (24)

One of Hart's issues is that he gets injured every single season so you need backups that can start at lot of games.

For some context Hart handily defeats Jones on GSAA per hockey reference. I'm too busy to go to a real site to find expected stats and such, so I'm not making myself very useful.

Am I remembering correctly that Hart started the first half strong and trailed off?

I got unlazy

That's 5v5, seems the special teams must have garbaged Hart more than they garbaged Jones. Hart was overall far better than the small save percentage difference indicates, though we should probably be asking why special teams had so much negative impact on one and not the other.

Hart got injured late in the season, like he does every season.

IMHO. Hart has the potential to move the needle more for the Flyers than anything they could possibly trade him for, let alone any other player on the roster.
He's already 20% starting keeper, 5% backup-keeper, and 75% waiting to be allocated to either category, or something like that.
And I think he worth just about very little on trade market, and certainly nothing approaching his potential, and simply no reason to risk giving him away.

Of course they were. Players of Ellis' caliber aren't traded for a 2 fizzling prospects. They knew exactly what they were doing and understood the entire picture. As usual, Fletcher did not. You will not die on this hill alone
It's even simpler...players who are older than 30 and in Y2 /Y3 of a 6/7/8 year contract are simply not traded in a simple exchnage. Because they fall into 2 categories:

A) clearly worth it for 3+ more years - therefore won't be traded away
B) clearly not worth it already - therefore no team will acquire them

I see no comparables for the Ellis trade! Every team's fanbase yearns to unload exactly these types of contracts before they are anchors, and the Flyers actually acquired one! It was a big risk when it was done, and it become a bust when the best year of Ellis' Flyer tenure went poof! I am season-long injured with no real explanation.

I can't believe some chick really tried to pass this off as Winnipeg, like I said in the comment section, that's the gorgeous waters of the Delaware River, just in case any free agents may wanna come her for cheap for the glorious views

I love how Chuck likes to mention we aren’t in as bad a place for cap space.

Relative to who?

Minnesota who you are responsible for?

Vegas that’s an actual good to great team that the Avs are worried about going forward?

Your team just finished 4th last in the entire league. There are expansion teams around. Teams that have sold off like Arizona to have 7 picks in the first 45.

This is just a bummer to read.

Out of 20 trades Fletch has made as Flyers GM, I'd say three of them were solid.

Atkinson
Braun (acquiring him)
Tippett (given the circumstances)

That's the end of the list.

It must be nice to have your dad's bestie as boss.

Not even "good" or "great." Just, "not bad."

Though I'm not counting Tippett since he made the circumstances.

All three of those are heavily debatable.
